Did you buy the new bike already then...? 😉

Not yet. Took the TT bike over and had that fitted. I was never really comfortable with it. The TT is a 56 and the roadie is a 58. I wanted to see what was the best size before purchase.Parkside then gave me measurements to match a roadie. I can then look for a roadie that is the closest fit for me and it will only need a little tweaking.

Flipper has her  first day of school today, unbelievable how the time flies!  It's a half day as that's how they seem to do it in Hampshire.  Tomorrow no school, then a week of half days next week. It was different back in my dinosaur days!

Anyway, taking her to school, dropping off, meeting teacher then heading home to load the car and drive to Tenby, so I won't be picking her up.  Mrs FP is completely fine with it (her suggestion actually).

Not sure if I'm a lucky guy or the world's worst Dad?

Junior lawgirl just arrived back in Oz, after a year at school in Belgium and travelling Europe for a few months.  Left a 16y. and returned an 18 yo.  Had my first beer with her last night.

She says she doesn't feel the need to move back in with mum and dad, so as much as I love and missed her, to me that's a win / win. 🤣🤣

That should be the way we go back to work after a long holiday! Half day, day off, week of half days...just ease the pineapple back in slowly :wink3:

Waiting on the paperwork to come through for a new contract. These guys I am with finally figured out they needed a different kind of project manager :wallbash:, I'm back running and all is ok with the world I guess. Just gotta slim down more!

Good luck with it Katz.  These job offers seem to come out of nowhere some time.

With my fairly recent move to the country, the plan was to work for 3 years in my current role and commute back to Melbourne every day.  The mortgage would be more than low enough then to just take any job locally and get into enjoying life and the community more.  Not many large employers in my area (only 3 with more than 20 employees) so anything was going to be on the cards, even plonking my ass on a tractor again and general farmwork.

A few months ago, an ad appeared in the local paper again for the same role being readvertised.  I had dismissed it as it was a bit above my current role, but on the last day of applications threw my hat into the ring.  A week later I had them chasing me with a job offer, to the point where I said if they allowed me to do the right thing by my current boss and employer and give 2 months notice, I would accept.  The down side is it's going back into government and they can only offer me a 3 year fixed term contract at this stage, however good chance it will go permanent, and it removes around 850kms of commuting each week by car.  So my ute has gone from being marked to be replaced in 3.5 years time to now being quite good to hand over to my son when he comes time for his licence in 5 years time.

So from next month I've made the transition to the country complete pretty much 4 days after the anniversary of when we took ownership of our little block in the hills.  The other great thing is for the first time of 25 years of working I'm now getting an RDO every 4 weeks to go with the extra 20 hours a week going back into the schedule that previously was driving to and from work.  That's almost enough time to put into some other sport we occasionally talk about on here just as my running is getting better and more consistent...

Oh and footnote: The man and I are doing well. He did his first multisport event (Hills duathlon) back in July and is getting more pool time in to do his first triathlon either this month or next.

Our youngest daughter currently in Buenos Aires covering the Youth Olympics.  She is hoping to get the gig to cover the triathlons.

Here a vid she put together with Chloe Esposito (Modern Pentathlon gold medalist at the last Olympics - if you missed it, she nailed the last event which involves running around a course and shooting along the way to move from 7th place to Gold in the last event of the competition - it was an incredible effort.  Don't know how you can shoot that well when you are puffing like a streamtrain?)

Nice clip.  Tell her if she goes to see Boca Jnrs play at home (like I did), not to freak out if the sacrifice a chicken at half time a few rows in front of you (like I did  )

She doesn't like animals, or children, so would probably be ok with it

They've been working the poor kid till 12pm - 2am in the morning & she had a bad cold the whole time.  She was hoping for a rest when she gets back on Sunday evening, but has been called up for Jury Duty on Tuesday!  She's a tough little cookie....but I'm hoping she does not get selected for the jury as it is a 6 week trial.

Will post photos when I have slept.

Absolutely brilliant news mate, congrats to you both and welcome to the world, Little George Leo:toot:

That was a classic photo.  He looks worldly wise from the get go.  Or maybe just be thinking "WTF, that is my Dad!"

When our eldest popped out, she looked just like my father which was a worry.

Mrs took me to Jenolan Caves for the weekend for my birthday, mainly because I have always wanted to see a platypus in the wild and they are known to be in the blue pool there.

Ticked the same box at the same place a few years ago.  Managed to do a passable impression of that husky bark they do, and ended up having a bit of a conversation with one of them

Fun times!

Yeah, we saw a couple up at Eungella National Park west of Mackay earlier this year. Absolute shit of a day. The cliff top views were just grey and you could hardly see your hand in front of your face, as you were in heavy cloud, but because of that, the platypus were out as it is was dusk. Got a lunch-time view of them playing in the creek, which was very rare for that location.
