Head to Head - Transition Race Challenges 2014

Recommended Posts

Was thinking of ways to add a bit of banter and a bit of fun on here.

I've come up with "Head to Head Challenges"!

Not sure how this will work practically but I'm sure we can nut it out.

As an example -

Ironman Australia 2013

Me - 11:18:33 (1:11:10 swim)

AP - 11:21:48 (1:11:17 swim)

I'm suggesting if AP is doing Ironman Australia this year, we go "Head to Head". We could wager a Case of beer, a couple of nice bottles of wine, some Lotto tickets or even a 50 for charity, no set rules on the wager (doesn't even have to be one), just thought it would spice it up.

Give people watching races on Ironmman live something to track.

It won't always be easy to match up with someone but you could start a thread with your recent race results and ask someone to take you on.

What do you think?

Ironman Oz

Nealo vs AP

Normie vs Coach@ (although I suspect that will be Normie vs his shadow as Coach@ won't race)

RunBrettRun vs ashley_s

Husky

Paperman vs Nealo

Can we extend to any other races? Bribie tri series / Gatorade/Telstra series etc? Or do you want to have "live tracking" available (not that it works for Ironman races all the time)

Absolutely, no limit on what race, it's your choice, live tracking just adds another dimension.

OK Nealo - you're on - why don't we make the prize $50 to be spent at the bottlo in Port - winners choice :smile1:

I love a bet - a bit of a game to play while we smash ourselves :smile1:

I won $50 off Trent of Red Dog Tri Club at HOTW by having more category winners than him - I lost $50 to him last year on total number of competitors :scared: We always bet on something :shy:

Actually Nealo, let's make it international and cross gender.

And the wager doesn't have to be by the participants ?

Nealo 11:18:33

KAM 11:15:29

So at least you are about the same age, even if different genders.

And sure, you're doing Port IM and KAM is doing IMNZ but forgetting that for a second.

I'll give you a case of your favourite super dooper special nobody has ever heard of it in their lives beer if your Port time beats KAM's IMNZ time...

AND

I'll add to KAM's time a 15 min handicap to reflect any bogus arguments that you put forward about Port being harder than NZ.

If I win, you give me a dozen chocolate donuts each selected by me from one of my 12 favourite local service stations...

Nice try TGL but my whole idea was to eliminate handicaps let alone different races in different countries!

Now yes AP is 25 years my senior but I don't see anyone sticking up for me saying yeah but Nealo weighs 25kg more!

I honestly don't think I'll come anywhere near AP this year but who cares it adds a bit of fun and you never know it might get me outside even when its raining!

Now that we can edit thread titles, should this one be changed to:

  • Nealo vs the world
  • Who wants to beat Nealo?
  • The Inagural Nealo weight vs age championship

This is my new favourite thread and I reckon it will go 100 pages before Port.

Ive done two halves. 4:30 sunny coast and 4:38 at auckland. Doing port, was going to take this one as a "feeler" to see what its all about but if someone has some similar results I'm happy to go head to head to make it a bit more interesting?

I'll take you up on that if you like. Haven't done a IM in 4 years where is went 10.40 at port mac. Most recent 70.3 were port mac the last 2 years going 4:35 each time.

What do you say Brett, I am calling you out.

Nealo - you and me this Sunday.

You got me by 5 minutes last year before going on to destroy me at Port. I know the way through T1 this year so look out.

3-pack of VB tallies to the winner?

I haven't been on the TT bike since Port. This might be a race to the bottom.

Put me down for Mooloolaba in a few weeks, who's in?

I'll be at Mooloolaba, but I'll be flat out trying to beat Future Mrs Tyno head to head.

I'll take you on 'nearest to the pin' style?

I'm up for the IMNZ challenge.

Record to date:

IMNZ 2000 - DNS

IMNZ 2011 - DNF

IMNZ 2014 - ?

So, you scared yet?

First to finish a bowl of pasta at the race briefing?

Done ?

So have you done IMNZ before? Any other IM? What was your last finish time?

Just need to carry out a small amount of due diligence before putting a wager on the actual race.
