Stans No Flats masquerading as Schwalbe Doc Blue

Recommended Posts

Bugger.

Bought another large (500 ml) bottle of Schwalbe Doc Blue, only to find on first use that the formula has changed.

Liquid is now whitish instead of blue.

Closer inspection reveals on the bottle in very tiny writing: Produced by Stans No Tubes. Made in USA.

Way to go Schwalbe, take a good product, and substitute an inferior one (which is probably making them more money of course).

I've used Stans a few times, but never worked for me, whereas real Doc Blue has saved me about 7-8 of 9-10 punctures.

Is to be aware of what sort of "Schwalbe Doc Blue" you are buying...

That sucks they do not disclose that.

However been using Stan's for 3+ yrs now no only one puncture in a sealed tube. Gotta shake it well to work.

That is one puncture in 3 years and it was the only tubukar I used. Was a vittoria Evo corsa. I ride 2-3 times a week through Sydney CBd so lots of glass etc. I follow the protocol you write for Doc Blue using Stan's.

I use conti 4000S mostly.

Cannot tell u how many attempts as I never intentionally punctured.

I feel the stuff works well. But may be the tyre choice can make a difference

What kind of customer service is that?

I find the Stans quite capably seals up holes as they occur on the MTB, so I don't think this is a backward step.

18,000km on tubeless last year with stans. had 4 flats that didn't seal.

1 was sliced by metal

2.impaled by a stick that required removing the whole tyre to pull it out.

3 raining stans just didn't seal a small hole

4.just didn't seal

i'm happy with that ratio

Wait a minute... how do you tell how many it did seal?

Can you see something on the tire tread that shows it was sealed with the stuff from inside?

I can't but I just look at my ride/puncture ratio.

I used to puncture at least 2 times a week sometimes 3 or 4. riding to work through Sydney CBD. after Stans 1 flat in 3 years unless they have drastically cleaned Sydney roads since I started using Stans the stuff works.

Edit to add same tire/tube combo: Conti
