  1. Hi All, Haven't been around for a while, starting to get back after a few injuries. Need some advice from the mech experts among us. I had my SRM stolen a few months back Dura ace 7900. Was off the bike getting serviced and it was pinched from work. Made me feel physically sick. Anyway after moping around I emailed SRM Oceania to see if they had any reco units etc. They were great and sent me out what I thought was a 7900 unit when it arrived it was a 7800 unit (brand new). They have looked after me on the unit however my LBS was worried about it being compatible with my 7900 groupo and also sourcing the 7800 chain rings, Shimano are potentially not making them moving forward also all my spare parts and other bikes are 7900. So I have two options keep the brand new 7800 unit or return it and purchase a second hand 7900 unit? Both will work out to be the same cost. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for the advice.

  4. Looks like a $1 part has caused my P5 to be replaced under warranty. There are two bolts which clamp the seat post into place - a few months ago the mounting which the bolt goes into became loose and had to be glued back in. It's now loose again and the bike shop applied for and got a complete frame replacement from Cervelo. Now just got to wait for the bike to be rebuilt. My SRMs stopped working after a week of intermittent power readings. Convinced it was a battery change required asked the bike shop to swap over the cranks when they were looking over the bike. Turns out the magnet had fallen off (which switches the SRMs on). Must have been hanging there for a while hence the intermittent signal. Saved me some $$s anyway. What did you learn today?
  5. Almost have enough money for a power meter so I thought I would start sussing out the used market, does anyone have a power meter kicking around they are looking to offload? Cheers
  6. Hi Everyone, Just been playing with my new toy and brand new SRM. Im a touch confused. What is the best power setting #sec Power, 30 Sec Power, Average power. Too many options. Also I have a MAC and it seems that WKO+ isnt MAC compatible. What are the other options? Im sure someone will have an opinion. Help a powermeter newbie out.
  7. Ok so I'm going to sign up for IM Melb 2014 and as part of taking my training to the next level so too speak I'm going to invest in a power meter. I've googled till the cows come home, but still pretty clueless. It looks like its down to a couple of options power tap, srm, rotor. I looked at quark but my bikes are shimano so from what I can see they are not compatible. Interesting that they would limit their own market. I like the look of the rotor power meter and having a reading for each leg sound like it could help with my pedaling efficiency. It looks like I'm up for at least 2K only trouble is do I put it on my road bike or my TT bike......... I know the power tap is built in the wheel so easily swapped but if it's in my training wheel I obviously can't get a reading in races. Any feedback on good or bad experiences would be appreciated. how you manage with 2 bikes did you just suck it up and get one for both bikes?

  9. My PT died and the the company says new one required disappointed with my experience and thinking of dropping the whole PT idea and going to: a crank based SRM or Quarq or may be even the Look Power pedals. A few questions for those of you who have used them: The SRM and Quarq can come with a multitude of cranks which one should I go for and is there any real difference? I am between SRAM S975 GXP FSA SL-K Light Rotor 3D with normal or Q-rings In addition to the Durace 7800 option for the SRM would there be any difference between them? I know there are people pro SRM and others pro Quarq but I don't know if there is a real life difference between the two. however for a crank based PM I need to install a bottom bracket adapter for My Look 596 bottom bracket, The other choice is Buying a new ZED 2 crankset with Look Power pedals. The price difference between the two choices is actually not that much.
