So... For years I've been told, and been reading, not to straighten your arm during freestyle but to keep your elbow bent, ensuring your elbow remains higher than your wrist. Looking at all the elite swimmers in the pool at the comm games, they all have a straight arm and at times the elbow looks to dip lower than the wrist, or at least be at the same level. Is this bent elbow thing a furphy? Is pool swimming *that* different to ocean swimming?
So Sally Pearson and others were fined $1300 for not spending enough time in team camp. What were they doing? Racing. In the case of one, equalling the 46 year old Australian record for 800m.
