  1. Interesting looking at male spots for Kona at cairns. Will these 3 race each other or go for the win or blow? personally they should race each other and just let mike Phillips (imnz) champ do what he wants. 1 male kona spot. Phillips already has his.
  2. Cairns Pro field is announced. No mention of Cranky though??? http://transitions.org.au/index.php?a=603
  3. Hoping someone knows a company that can transfer my bike from Melbourne to IM Cairns? I've searched Pyebikes and Velotrans and both don't appear to exist anymore. I had been relying on tribike transfer but they aren't doing transfers from Melbourne. Any suggestions would be great!

    Ironman checklist

Was wondering if anyone had a checklist of some description that I could double check against to make sure I haven't forgotten anything, I've never done a race where I had to travel by air before
  6. I've done one before but that was organised in age groups. 4 people going 5 seconds apart but they started with 18-24 and worked there way up the ages. It spread everyone out really well and drafting was pretty much non existent. When they organise it by estimated swim time wouldn't you just have slower swimmers starting in the first few starters in the hope that they get out of the water with, or closer to quicker swimmers, so they can make contact with a quicker bunch of riders. One they wouldn't ordinarily see all day in a mass start. For this reason I can't see it doing anything to prevent drafting. So my questions for those that have raced with a rolling start and anyone else are Do they do rolling starts for swim safety or in an attempt to prevent drafting? Is there a mad crush to start in the first few waves to get a good position on the road?

  8. Hi, I'm in Perth, going to Cairns in June for IM, useless at pulling my bike apart and putting it together and need to be able to transport it safely and in as close to one piece as possible. So, I am after a Scicon Aerocomfort Triathlon bag. Ideally I would like to borrow one. But am happy to hire one. Would be willing to consider buying one second hand. The issue with that is, I am unlikely to need to use it again any time soon and I live in the worlds smallest house and storage is almost non-existent. Does anyone have one? I am only after one of these bags, not any other kind, due to the pull apart/put back together factor.

  13. So with Ironman Western Australia, New Zealand, Melbourne and soon Port out of the way, there will be about 100+ spots currently taken by the best athletes in the country. With the extra 40 spots being offered at Cairns, surely this is the place to be this year if you are after a trip to Hawaii no? Even the time of year is favourable as it tends to be "off season" for a lot of the Australiasian athletes having a bit of down time... For the NZ guys looking at their options now, I'd say it is a no brainer that you have to be in Cairns and give it a good shot. Thoughts?
