First across the line male and female for the IRONMAN, first across the line male and female for the 70.3, best costume, best effort I am scared of sculling beer, can I have someone do it for me? No way! Individual effort only! 💪 Please post below if you plan to join us, I will collate an entry list - also let me know if you are a 70.3 entrant or an IRONMAN entrant! Entry List Enticer: Flanman Full: trickle tomesy and blind athlete
It was suggested by Duffs that it might be worth starting a Beer Appreciation thread after some discussions in a Beer Mile thread over on TriChat. So, to kick it off, a run down of my current favourites in different styles which are available from good bottle shops, with an emphasis on made-in-Oz (a couple aren't though - and this list can change as often as the weather). I've also included some pubs I've found which serve a variety of craft beer in Sydney. Be interested to hear about other good craft beer pubs around Australia and your beer recommendations. Lager: Blue Tongue This just does it for me, clean, crisp, very slight bitterness. My reward after a training session, first one disappears in seconds. Pilsner: Bitburger Classic example of a Pilsner: drying after taste, bitterness. Golden Ale: Stone & Wood Pacific Ale Easy to drink and drink. Wheat/White: White Rabbit White Ale Please don't put fruit in it! Orange and coriander comes through, refreshing. English Bitter: My Wife's Bitter Love the name, and the flavour. Pale Ale: Fat Yak Obvious hops, just classic pale ale flavour. IPA: Vale IPA US style IPA, but they've throttled back on the hop punch to the nose, which I like. Stout: Young's Double Chocolate It's beer with chocolate - enough said. Pubs: The Harts Pub (Sydney): Stocks from a local brewery, and gets in craft beer - Golden Ale is a good session beer, and some of the Stouts they've had in have been awesome. Local Taphouse (Sydney and Melbourne): large and ever changing selection of craft beer - even had Brains SA last time I was there! Red Oak (Sydney): Stock their own beer, rotating through some guest styles.
Heading to TDU and keen to know what the 'must see/do' agenda should include while in Adelaide for the race... Heading down with a mate and wives. Boys taking bikes, girls taking credit cards... S far, we are doing the Bupa ride on Friday, will have hire car and staying at same hotel as riders (so should be good for seeing them). Recommendations?
