Noticed some idle speculation about Winter Fish: http://forums.transitions.org.au/index.php?showtopic=60616&page=26 I think my tally would've been pretty much none, had I noticed there was a contest, which I didn't. I also don't know how the spreadsheet bit is done. But in any event, by my reckoning it's actually Winter in the morning. Yes... tomorrow. And I'm well prepared, because I have a front bum and am struggling to get at my shoelaces. Which means something has to be done. For personal reasons I need to get cracking a lot quicker than July. So, if people want to get on it, I'd like to formally declare open the 2014 edition of Transitions Winter Fish. Appears to me that the 50km in 50 days works neatly if you start tomorrow and end on Sunday July 20th. My plan for kick-off tomorrow is to take the kids to their swimming lesson and watch, thus acclimatising myself to the hostile chlorinated environment a bit before gearing up for some light wading during the week. Edit - FAQs: Where do we record our swims?: Spreadsheet Online - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq0Xp95nnf-vdG5INTB1ekZyUzdMNVFObjQtbWZ1WWc&om=true&richtext=false#gid=0 What is the handicap system?: Asking silly questions results in a penalty of +50km per question Can I lurk and not swim?: Ask Ayto, who allegedly likes this thread but is yet to appear in the spreadsheet (or in a pool for that matter - possibly ever). Can I swim and not lurk?: That's +50km for you right there. Isn't 50km a bit light on?: +50km I posted in the old thread not the new one: +50km I'm hiltz: +50km Can I have a visor instead of a cap?: Wrong thread, please check with Roxii. Also +50km.
Got on the bike this morning for the first time since Cairns and brrrr it was cold! I have some pretty decent winter gear but one thing that has always been hit and miss for me are shoe covers. I must've gone through 3 or 4 pairs and they all broke down for different reasons. The latest one was a Castelli waterproof that seemed to be warm enough but it was a very snug fit and the zip snapped after about a month's use. Currently have a Gore one but that's probably more a shoe cover for time trials than something to keep my feet warm. I've been looking around and can't make a decision so if anyone could please point me in the right direct, preferably online, it would be great. Cheers, Rog
