    IMWA 2016

Is it too early for a thread on this? I'm registered, flights, accommodation & car hire booked. Wife & kids are coming with me. Getting so excited that I might start to think about going for a swim at some stage. Just wondering which other Trannies are planning on having a crack this year? Will there be a Beer Mile? Do any Busso veterans have some good tips for both racing the event and hanging around the area during IM week?
  2. Did anyone else get separate emails from WTC asking whether they can help me register for Melbourne or WA? They are now actively trying to recruit entrants, bit different compared to when (at least Melbourne) events would sell out in no time! Is this a sign? Should I sell my WTC shares ;-)

  5. A couple of weeks ago Rachael Smith had the fastest female time at the Busselton 70.3. This weekend AGer Kym Jaenke had the fastest female time at Cairns, with Rachael Smith having the 4th fastest time. Though the female PRO list was thin Sam Warriner and Rebecca Hoschke are class athletes. 1. Kym Jaenke (AUS) 4:38:28 * F35-39 2. Samantha Warriner (NZL) 4:39:18 3. Kiyomi Niwata (JPN) 4:40:24 4. Rachael Smith (AUS) 4:43:00 *F35-39 5. Ange Castle (AUS) 4:45:40 6. Matilda Raynolds (AUS) 4:46:31 7. Rebecca Hoschke (AUS) 4:49:55 8. Kristy Hallett (AUS) 4:56:13 9. Olivia Latimer (AUS) 4:57:28 * F35-39 10. Rosie McGeoch (AUS) 5:01:04 * F35-39A Well done Kym and Rachael

    Ironman WA

I was in Busselton over the weekend for the 70.3. In the local paper was a story about a proposal before the council to fix up the road to Capel. It had been requested by WTC so that they could change the bike from a 3 lap course to a 2 lap course. With 2 laps they could increase competitor numbers to 2500. The pitch was that increased competitor numbers would bring greater revenue to the region. Do any Busso locals know which road they are talking about? My concern with the proposal is that with 2500 competitors on a flat course drafting would be a major problem. Having two laps would only marginally improve the drafting problem, with out any hills to break up the big packs who will come out of the swim together. The 70.3 had a two lap cycle with 1500 athletes. From what I saw there was very little drafting. Having wave starts spreads the field out.
  7. Heading over for Busso with a mate and our respective other halves, and looking at the logistics. All the cheap accommodation has long gone, but we've found a house in fairly close, albeit at the appropriate daily rate. Looks like there are limited flights from Perth to Busso, so although we wont need a car for the race weekend, we might have to hire a car and drive down, although four adults, two bikes, and a baby will need decent size car. Any sage advice from Trannies that have been there done that ? Thanks!
  8. Would anyone have a DVD / Torrent file that they could share with me? Happy to pay for it if needed. I don't care which year, just wanted to have a look at it again as it's been a while. I have the 2007 DVD and just tried to play it but it's not working anymore for some reason Thanks, Rog
