    Zipp Recall

Couple of weeks for my 101. Believe they're waiting on parts for certain wheels.
  5. I just did. Only tryna be a good Trannie & support a sponsor, that's apparently not a sponsor...
  6. Shimano user here too. Used their middle of the range XC60 (now XC61)for a few years & been pretty happy, but as of today, just upgraded & pulled the trigger on these -: https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/mountain-bike-shoes/shimano/vic/altona-meadows/shimano-sh-xc70-xc-shoes-mtb/102835156
  7. Assuming it's kosher to ask 'em (Bike Bug) to at least match local pricing!?!? Happy to support site sponsor & looking at a pair of MTB shoes, but B.B. are about 30% dearer than I can get them from Bike Exchange for.
  8. Thanks for the good info Diamonds & IP. Will be a stretch to get to Falls this time around me thinks, but we'll do our best. If we don't get there, sounds like it's worth the drive from Melbourne at some point, so will whack it on the to do list.
  9. We'll be there from Fri 22nd to Sun 24th. Nothing firmed up, but the rough plan goes a little something like this - heading up from Melbourne on the Fri morning & heading straight to Bright/Mystic MTB Park, getting there around 12pm for a ride. Sat morning, head out to Mt Beauty. Sunday morning Flame Trees & Beechy MTB Park. Ride duration(s) would be something around the 2 1/2 hour mark, at a civilised pace.
  10. I don't do the FB thing, so think we'll just stick to the usual 'fly by the seat of our pants' approach. We're only riding for sh!ts & giggles, so not too fussed if we balls it up a bit.... Understand you've got bigger fish to fry with UM, but if you change your mind & want to get the Dirt Skirt on for couple of cruisy hours, just let us know.

    Zipp Recall

Just to add to Gregor_Mc ( . Y . ) "Zipp Hub recall notice", I believe the hubs they were initially saying were unaffected in his link, are now indeed affected -: http://www.zipp.com/_media/pdfs/support/SRAM_ZIPP_V6.V7.V8_Customer_Notice%203_16_2016.pdf Reading the ST thread on the recall, it sounds like it might not be far away before rear hubs will be recalled as well.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Will definitely add Beauty in then. Only up there for 2 1/2 days (Fri, Sat & Sun) over the ANZAC Day weekend, so mid-week group ride is not an option unfortunately. The plan at this stage is to, hit up Bright Fri, Beauty Sat & Beechy (where we'll be based) Sun.
  13. Was up at Bright November last year & while we enjoyed the riding, we really just fumbled our way through, thinking along the way "there's got to be a proper/better way to link up all these trails". So with that in mind, we're heading back there in a couple of weeks & was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Also considering hitting up Mt Beauty as well, so any help there would be great too.
  14. Mmmm, not really sure what you're asking Symo We didn't ride any trails in Scottsdale, but stocked up on supplies there, as Derby is just a small country. On that note, while the trails are brilliant, the town of Derby has a bit of catching up to do to cater for MTB'ers & this is where Rotorua/Redwoods would be in front when it comes to things like accommodation options, non MTB activities & shopping (supermarkets & restaurants).

Saw this in our industry rag -: http://www.manmonthly.com.au/features/bicycle-manufacturing-on-rise-as-cars-take-back-se?mid=dea7e93113&utm_source=Cirrus+Media+Newsletters&utm_campaign=09fff3b30f-Manufacturers+Monthly+Newsletter+-+2016030&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_fe913f1856-09fff3b30f-59062017
  16. Have just come back from 4 days of riding in Tassie & it was absolutely fantastic!!! We rode Hollybank Park- Juggernaught & Tall Timbers. Then it was off to Derby, where we hit up the trails of Blue Derby MTB Park, Big Chook (just opened Fri woo****in'hoo ), Atlas & Blue Tier. Headed over with a few mates & for roughly the same cost as an IM entry, I got air fare, accom, car hire & shuttles for 3 days. For mine, these trails are on par with the Redwoods in NZ & well worth checking out.
  17. Have done the Bloody Big Swim (11.2kms) a couple of times & have just used whatever liquid nutrition I was using at the time for regular training. The BBS being a point to point bay swim, I relied on kayaker & it was nice to freshen the mouth up a little from the salt water, just as much as taking some nutrition on board. I took something in every 30mins over the course of 2 3/4 hours & that seemed to work pretty well for me.
  18. Agree with this. In my experience, buying cheaper knicks is a bit of a false economy, as I've found the Assos kit (Uno/Mille range) lasts longer than the cheaper stuff I've used in the past. Assos is on sale regularly enough, so at the end of the day, there's probably not a whole lot in it price wise, it's much better fitting (for me) & as a result, I get the benefit of being more comfortable. Well worth the extra cost up front IMO.
  19. Just got an email from a mate for The Bicycle Entrepenur & they've got some decent discounts on the top of the line Assos shorts. TBE - ASSOS T CAMPIONISSIMO S7 BIB SHORTS for $259 - http://www.tbe.com.au/search.asp?mc=3&c=176&b=811&slf=1TBE Wiggle - ASSOS T CAMPIONISSIMO S7 BIB SHORTS for $625 - http://www.wiggle.com.au/assos-tcampionissimo-s7-bib-short/ Never used TBE before, so can't vouch for them. Possibly a case of too good to be true!?!?
  20. I know a couple who walk their dogs most days in the nearby park & they believe they're helping the environment by not using plastic bags to pick up. I was treated like an Environmental Terrorist by said couple when I through a banana peel into the bush at Mt Beauty 1 time, as apparently they don't break down easily
  21. I was doing the online dating thing for a bit & 1 of the Q's for your profile was 'What are you good at?' You'd be surprised at the number of ladies that list parallel parking as an answer, like it's the exception to the rule.
  22. If travelling in the same direction - if I'm the passer, I call out "passing when you're ready" & if the passee, I move to one side when practical & let them know which side they can pass on. If travelling opposite directions, I think the general rule of thumb is give way to the rider going up if climbing (harder to get started again I think is the reasoning) In saying that, if you're barrelling down, it's harder to pull-up & stop so who the frig knows. I think it should be up to both parties to slow down & both make the necessary line adjustment for a safe pass. I'll also add, If I'm kind enough to stop or pull over, then at least have the courtesy to say "thanks"..... it wont affect your strava time greatly
