  1. Bought a DSLR many years ago for the luxury of having the different lens. Problem is that I never bothered how to use it in manual mode properly. Apparently its a common problem with DSLR users. Going on a trip later this year and didn't want to lug the DSLR around so went looking for something smaller. Ended up getting the Canon M100 mirrorless. Pretty much a point and shoot camera but I've been really impressed with the quality of the images. Max of 24Megapixels and apparently it has the same size sensor as the Canon DSLRs which helps the picture quality. Can't remember exactly what I paid but I got it through Amazon. AJ
  2. Disclaimer: I'm not an accountant and I don't play one on TV Think you're asking the wrong people My Best Advice: Get yourself a great financial wizard/genius Accountant that you trust implicitly. From my (very) limited understanding of the tax implications around investment properties, its very easy to make very expensive mistakes. And worse still, the rules around them seem to change yearly. And as a side note, I believe this year the tax man is concentrating on dodgy deduction claims on investment properties regarding renovations called repairs, inspections etc etc etc. AJ
  3. Don't have a lot of motivation to travel overseas. There's too much to see and do here in Australia that I doubt I'll get to see/do even 10% of whats on my bucket list. Problem is my bucket list involves more than just being there but rather spending time there and having a good look around. So the bucket list (in part) consists of: Kakadu and Litchfield National parks in depth. Was there briefly in 2014 but barely scratched the surface. Kings Canyon West and East MacDonnell Ranges Arnham Land Kimberleys Western Australia (yeah all of it) Channel Country of Western Queensland Cape York (but not necessarily the OTT) SA/NSW/QLD border region including Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville track, Coopers Creek, Camerons Corner etc Broken Hill and Silverton (so I can appreciate it more this time) Victorian High Country (in Summer) Flinders Ranges Tasmania (yeah all of it) Murray River (if theres any water in it) AJ
  4. No. Brain just wired differently to others. And its nothing special. Mrs AJ remembers everything....and will drag it out at any time during any argument to prove her point.
  5. Just as a matter of interest, Anybody know if you can get booked for having the viewing screen on when you're driving? Theres been a recent spate of bookings when the front seat passenger has been using a phone/tablet and its been deemed as distracting to the driver. AJ
  6. Yeah I once had a Boss who hurt himself jumping to the wrong conclusion
  7. Personally don't agree with it. Don't have a problem with anybody who does. The way I figure it, its none of my business whether you do or don't. Reckon there are too many people in the world trying to make too many mountains out of too few molehills and in the process only showing that all they really should have done is just shut up.
  8. According to Donald Trump, Donald Trump will show us the light and tell us what is the truth and what is fake news
  9. Maybe its a new Deconstructed Filtered Coffee variety
  10. Apparently, at least 8 or 9 generations if a story I was told a few years ago about a person claiming indigenous descent rights had any truth to it. AJ

Reckon they missed a massive marketing opportunity here. Think of the crowds that would come to every game he played. Half to support him and half to abuse him. For a footy code that is generally suffering from a distinct lack of Bums on Seats at games, this would have been a welcome boost to coffers for at least one game a week. And at the risk of going to Hell myself...is anybody else completely disinterested about Origin this year? AJ

Apparently the RA CEO didn't even speak to Folau directly to tell him the result. Now there's real courage in leadership...not.
  14. Actually they do. Admittedly, the return is almost useless but its there. My 120watt solar panel will return up to 7.5amp@13v in bright sunshine and somewhere between 0.05 and 0.1 amps in bright moonshine. This fact was brought to you by Bundaberg Rum which is entirely to blame for the antics of that particular night

Can't remember if I was attracted to both 30 years ago or not. Actually theres a lot about the late 80's and early 90's that I don't remember. I'm blaming the alcohol. AJ

I still think its a choice and could back that up with anecdotal evidence (Person starts off as heterosexual and then turns homosexual) but by similar reasoning the alternative conclusion could also be reached (Person is always homosexual). In the end it doesn't matter if its a choice, preordained, Genetic, hormonal or something else. If they're happy with where they are and who they're with then its not my place to upset their apple cart. And I think this is the fine line between my Christian faith and Israel Folaus. I'm not prepared to hurt people by condemning them in such a way. If the opportunity arises then I'm more than prepared to outline my position based on my beliefs but in a manner that is respectful to fact that their beliefs may be different to my own. I said earlier that I once lived with man who embraced that lifestyle. He did give me the choice...and I chose not to. So yes, I think I chose to be heterosexual. AJ

Yes, based on my beliefs, same sex relationships are not something I think is entirely right. I don't want to use the word "wrong" because I think its a much more complex issue than a simple Right/Wrong opinion can handle . Do I hate people because of it? No. Why? Because there is absolutely no reason to. Based on the fact that I've worked with, lived with, and have friends and relatives who are, I'd suggest the vast majority of them are kind, decent, loving people who would offer you the shirt off their back if the situation demanded it. And at the end of the day, those are the attributes that I judge a person on. Not their sexual preference, color, religion, country of birth etc Do I feel I have some sort of moral superiority based on my interpretation of the Bible? Hell no. Well, I don't think I do. To me, that would be completely hypocritical. If I'm honest, I've got far too many issues in my own life to sort out before I could claim to be a moral compass for anybody else. I'm a simple bloke in a very complex world. The Bible is a big complex book/Series of books and I won't pretend that I understand too much of it. But what I get out of it (and others may get something completely different):: Treat everybody the same way that you would want to be treated - with honesty, kindness, compassion and love Just because I don't agree with somebodies lifestyle choice doesn't automatically mean that I can ignore this. It means that I may need to make a harder effort to ensure that I do follow it. AJ

Actually its considered to be a sin and according to the bible - the wages of sin is death. Just because the Anglicans choose to permit it doesn't make it right according to the Bible and could be/has been perceived as hypocritical. But realistically, what it means is that they're leaving the condemnation of sinners to God and that's the way it should be. I figure its not my place to condemn anybody because of whatever "sin" you may have or are currently involved in. As another Bible verse states "Let them who is without sin cast the first stone". Legitimise Rape? Have a read through this. It'll make some sense out of it from a cultural perspective of the time. Personally, I figure it has no place in 21st century Australia. Rape is wrong and paying a shed load of money isn't going to change that, https://citybibleforum.org/city/brisbane/blog/does-bible-legitimise-rape-response-benjamin-law Realistically, this is one of these out of context verses that people tend to bring out to back up their argument that the Bible is garbage and God doesn't exist. If you really want to understand God then read and understand the 4 Gospels of the New Testament. Everything else if just there so various sad members of the population can show how much smarter they are by attempting to complicate everything to the nth degree. Much like those stupid ambiguous maths quizzes on Facebook. And one to end with But if you really want an out of context verse to aggravate your local Christians and "prove" that the Bible is just an early "50 Shades of Grey", try this one... "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." (Ezekiel 23:20) Never let it be said, I don't give you anything AJ
  20. After not riding for almost 7 years, I've decided that it might be time to get rid of the road bike. Although the bike comes complete, I'm realistic enough to know that I'm only selling the frame as I figure most people will probably want to upgrade to the latest and greatest kit. So its a 2003 61cm Fuji Team with 8 (maybe 9) speed ultegra gearing (yes its that old) Suit a tall bloke (190cm+) and I found it very comfortable to ride. Could be a good starter bike for somebody who wants to have a go but doesn't want to spend a fortune to start up. Full details: https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/SearchListingDetail.aspx?id=38406&make=681&model=41005 Located in Capalaba just south of Brisbane If you're interested, make an offer. AJ

Could be interesting times at Rugby Australia if Izzy wins the case. Could be some awkward moments in the dressing rooms - Considering that both his state and County captains have condemned his comments and congratulated RA on sacking him. My guess is that he'll win the case but never be selected again.

Unless he had a special clause stating he couldn't post his religious beliefs, I'd be suspecting that his contract probably stipulates that he won't bring the game into disrepute. Hard to see how repeating mainline religious theology could possibly do that. But then "Bringing the game into Disrepute" is a huge grey area with shifting boundaries defined by whatever the "powers that be" decide is against their interests in the game. Maybe the ARU is worried that if Izzy is correct then the game played in heaven won't be watched by its major sponsor. AJ

Maybe I'm getting a little slow in my old age but if this was what Izzy posted then I don't see anything especially homophobic in this. I don't see hate in there at all. Its pretty much standard Judaeo-Christian teaching and has been for a long, long time. If you truly believe in the Christian faith then you'll probably agree with what he posted. If you don't then you probably won't. Realistically, whats going on here is no better than the Salem Witch trials back in ye olde times AJ
