  1. Different organisers to the 2012 race. The bloke that leads it is an SL Aussie living in Sydney 90% of the year. Good racer. Swim Ilength was good the previous year I did. I noticed on Strava a few swims seemed a tag long. Hard place to run an event - literally one club on the island which has only existed for 3 years and provides probably around 30-40 entries. The sport is prohibitly expensive compared to the local salaries. Relies on Ironman tourism, mostly expats from the Middle East for numbers.
  2. i wear Asics available off wiggle - about $60 when not on sale - i've had a few pairs and generally last me 2-3 year of 3 runs a week. Shorts are short and pocket is big enough to fit a phone (or access card) in if you want to listen to some music.
  3. Hi gang, Wondering if anyone has any designs (specs) for wall bike storage. You know one of those fancy storage things with space for your helmet, kits, biddons and bike! I want it to be pretty enough to pass the wife/ non-bike partner test. Something like the attached. Bike can be either vertical or horizontal. I'm looking at having it made or making it as a project.
  4. Thanks! I've just realised I am racing Abu Dhabi as part of ITU caravan not Dubai. Hopefully I can escape any idiots on bikes! Something different
  5. Way off topic (25mins until the online race coverage starts) but has anyone raced in Dubai? I am heading over to do the ITU (age grouper) race there in March.... Any tips would be appreciated.
  6. If you upgrade you're not eligible for AG prizes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Is Corky any different to someone constantly posts on here? I'm sure many on here are equally talented. At least her posts are generally positive and motivating for some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. That's how much my ironman runs work, first 5k 'yeah I'm a 3hr runner.' 20k mark 'oh bother' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. My expectations still exceed my ability Quitting the sport during an IM run isn't really the same as quitting the sport. Local events rock, but the lure of Kona is still strong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Probably of cyclists holding objects to throw and hitting the car seems close to zero. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Most of mine are family oriented this year. If I can do an IM, I'd like to finish the run thinking I actually enjoy IM. (Sub 3:30 run, 30 min run PB ). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Swim - 250 Bike - 6400 Run - 1300 Includes 4 weeks away with no bike or pool and no-where safe to run! Also about 4 weeks of no running with a torn calf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Canberra is great, except for a few ex-Sydneysiders who like to whinge. Plenty of options, if riding your TT, lake George/ Majura Parksway/ Federal high are best options. Otherwise Thawra, Cotter etc are great (also suitable for TT). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I'd also consider what you had eaten in the days leading up to the race. IMO, for cramps, this is equally important. Adding extra salt to your diet and magnesium (bananas) helps. If you start a race in salt deficit then you are in trouble! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. You could also ride some or all of the centenary trail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
