  1. No training wasting time sitting through interviews that I should not have been sent to as I am too senior ๐Ÿ˜‚ this looking for a new job every 6 months is giving me the shits, but the term permanent does not exist in project management anymore.
  2. I use a trainer skewer with mine. They fit better, and they don't scratch up the nice skewers.
  3. I bought a trainer mat from anaconda. I had the Elite with the elastigel roller, now moved to the kickr snap (multi bike household with different clusters). We checked in the hallway and no noise, but we are carpeted here.

  5. Apparently the 3 race annual maximum only counts for "club sanctioned" races and not "open sanctioned" (like Elite Energy, Ironman, Hills, etc). So if I was to not be a member I could do all of the Hills races for the season on ODMs and that would be no issue, but if I was to try the same at PTC where the races are club sanctioned, then I would be encouraged to join TA. We found out when TriNSW were trying to get our race entry lists. We sent one list over (as we were told to do), but then someone confirmed as we run open sanctioned we do not have to do anything! ๐Ÿ˜
  6. Good thing I have a cheap wetsuit ๐Ÿ˜‚ I am in the sleeveless club, but I did not want to spend a fortune on one with shoulders that are flexy enough for a slightly dodgy right shoulder. I'm on the hunt for something similar for the +1 some of the earlier races in the season are quite cold (sub 20) and he needs to not freeze to death ๐Ÿ˜‚
  7. I am not entirely sure with those planned wave starts it is going to alleviate the drafting issue. There is only 5 mins gap between each start.

  10. I remember on one contract my boss and I had to fly down to Melbourne to do it. The team lead down there had a couple of guys who were clearly not performing, but being contractors, you need to be 100% from the get go, they had tried everything from their end, gave them multiple chances and coaching, but no pick up in effort. Even though it was non-performance, it was still a tough gig to give them the news and help pack them up. Was the first time I had to do it too, and even though they are only contractors, I wanted to make sure they got the proper feedback, everyone should be able to learn. Boss suggested we grab a beer at the airport on the way back. It was good to chat about it. It's made it easier on the next times around. My contract ends here at the end of the month, no handshake, but I have tried to save as much as I can. Unfortunately, budgets are being cut and there is no job for me on the upcoming projects.

The only thing you need to remember is they may want to have a look at your cartridges, when you show them the letter, to make sure they are new (not showing any rust/tampering) and you do not have more than the maximum, so have them easily accessible. I got checked at Sydney, then Adelaide on the way back from Victor Harbor.
  14. Yeah, I use Rouvy now. I can get two accounts for $120USD a year, and we only do FTP workouts anyway.

    In a lot of places I have worked it is from the Friday before Christmas to the Monday after new year. So you pretty much burn almost 2 weeks there. There are a few places some people I know still work at it is the 2nd Monday after new year, so add another week. That does not leave much for an actual holiday after you take the isolated day here and there if you need to get the car serviced or something done at home and you do not have a flexible arrangement.
  16. I have done a 70.3 on limited time. Monday - swim drills - usually up to 2k total (so 45-50mins) Tuesday - 50 mins on the trainer doing a workout on Zwift - like FTP efforts, etc. Usually catch up on Billions. Wednesday - 20min tready and weights Thursday - 30-40 on zwift, and a trot off the bike Friday - rest Saturday - long run 1 hour to 2 hours Sunday - long ride on trainer 2 hours maybe - always a workout - usually get a Marvel movie in Every now and again I get outside and do a 3 hour road ride, but maybe once a month at most, just to get crappy road time, and I mean crappy roads. I pick them based on how crappy they are. Port has some shitty roads, I don't go near the M7.
  17. Anxiety can do some pretty strange things, the thoughts of stuffing up make you not want to try at all. For me the anxiety was not about the task at hand, but about my health, or other stuff I could not control, so I just lost complete focus on everything else and got fixated, work slipped, studying slipped. The lex has calmed that shit down immensely, I now have focus. It is rearing its head again, but my project is ending soon and so is my contract as much as they want to keep me there is no budget for a skull cracker, sorry, project coordinator in the upcoming projects. CIO seems to have killed it off, much to the detriment of the poor project manager. But I am fixating on the job search, and not 100% focused on the work left, even though I know this is a quiet time for recruitment and I know I have unemployment funds to get me through!

    Some of us don't have the head hits the pillow out like a light thing either, and it's not kids causing it....sometimes its insomnia, for some (like the +1) restless legs syndrome, which seems to be a dark art about how you stop it!

    @BogFrog needed to be said. Although, I did not spend an hour every night with my parents as a kid, I am fine. Mum used to go to aerobics once or twice a week from memory, dad would look after us, but I don't remember family board games....or family activities, more like sister and I making up our own fun. @dazaau I cannot it seems, I need about 2 hours to wind down. I complained about lack of sleep, doctor said heres the script for melatonin, but stopping the training 2 hours before bed will be cheaper.
  20. I'm going to make the assumption that there are quite a lot of people who do not live in Sydney here, or if they do, they live closer to work. FWIW, I used to work in the CBD and commute from the lower mountains daily (my jobs did not have a lot of work from home benefits). My training time mid-week was limited, so I had to make the weekends work for me (lucky I do not have kids). Wakeup was by 6am, in the office by 8.30am (with an almost 90min commute) try to finish at 5pm (but I just love software developers as they have a habit of rolling up at 10 and working late, so I would have to stay late sometimes). Get to the gym around 7pm, then workout for an hour at the most, home, eat and in bed by 9.30pm. My doctor also told me to not train within 2 hours of bed time as I used to complain about not getting sleep. Some nights I would not go at all, the usual train delays on the western line would kill any enthusiasm and also waking time. Gotta love a 2 hour + commute to Penrith!
  21. We're a couple with no kids, I don't think he cares about the 70.3 training, or at least he has not told me! Should not matter anyway, just need to make sure apartment is clean, the cat and us are fed and he gets special cuddles. Current +1 has fit right in to all of the triathlon madness, swim, bike, run, cheer, drink. Loves the people, the super human efforts and the sport. (my ex did not seem all that keen on anything!). I have ditched group sessions as I was either too slow or too fast so wasting time and fuel to get there, do a lot of sessions indoors (using set workouts) so get more out of the time on the bike, and work it all into the calendar somehow.

  23. I was running 8:15-8:30min k's over 5k when I was *shudder* 122kg I am now 91kg and running 6:45-7:00min k's
  24. They have already run out of the UTA22 shirts with the competitors names on it! How is the free shirt sizing? At Port the kids seemed to get the adult sizes and the 70.3ers got the kids sizes!
