  1. Dalai, Not around much these days, watching people play scrabble has me here now! I don’t do much either any more, but am a good listener or even good to just sit with. Yell out if you want - no pressure. Shaun
  2. Well this thread got some text messages going... what did I miss in the last several years? 😂
  3. Had it done in late March mate... can share any stories and answer a bunch of questions if need. I had four and a half months of bliss.... and then it shat itself again a fortnight ago. Off to the cardiologist next Friday to work out next steps....
  4. Yep.... but that ain’t a paint chip caused by a stone, etc. Something has been dropped on it and to me, it looks like something of size. The previous owner will know exactly what..... I would be arranging to have it scanned. The response to the email will be “we are more concerned by what we can’t see”. Can’t remember what it cost me to get fixed, maybe $500ish including painting.
  5. From Trannie Whodesigns. He is the godfather of carbon and carbon repair in Aus. http://luescherteknik.com.au/ Be prepared that it will be a strip of all the components and $$$ to fix. I know this from experience.
  6. I’m with IP... that ain’t no paint chip. You can see the carbon separating. Where are you based? If in Melb, $100 for a scan and will be told definitely what damage it is. My guess? You got it for a bargain

I probably have a bit of a unique insight into this. I was at the school when the attacks happened: in year 11 to be exact. I knew/know many exCcathedral College choir kids. I attended the masses and celebrations. I have met George numerous times. At school and at church. He is a big imposing man. My recollection is he would have to be 6'4+. Dad is 6'3 and George is definitely bigger. He would have been 110kgs+. He would have been mid 50's as well so still relatively fit. For comparison, when I was 13, I would have been lucky to be 5' and 50kgs. He towers over you. The main thing for me, was the kids where all on a catholic funded scholarship. This is a power imbalance when the very person paying / authorising your school fees is the man who is attacking you - its abhorrent. I can see very easily why kids wouldn't speak up then. Your parents would have been so pleased that you are going to good, strong, catholic school and getting the education that they potentially couldnt afford - for free and you as a 13yr old are going to destroy this? Remember 1990's, the whole catholic ring hadnt been fully exposed. Who would believe you and your claims against the man who has stated he would solve the emerging "Melbourne" problem? I can not confidently say that I would have spoken up if I had been "chosen". I really don't know; however I do vividly remember my mum asking questions along similar lines every so often to give me the opportunity to speak up - I think she had a sense that something wasn't quite right with a priest or two.
  8. Buy pedals, then cranks and then new cleats for a few pairs of shoes and well chainset based just seems easier...
  9. I kind of relate to this. I had really no issues other than an burst eardrum from a knock at a turning can, that decides to "reburst" itself every time I go too deep in a pool. And then I had a little heart incident... and now booked in for surgery in March. In the words of the doc "not uncommon for people your age, especially in elite athletes". That was my paraphrasing of a long conversation 😂
  10. Ex - pretty sure we used to work together if I am piecing things together correctly. June 20th is my code word. I got out in November, after being directly placed into a role through the October round. My team was halved and the work remained. I went from a B1 to being paid a B1 doing the work of my grad. The mental health change (in moving out of the org) has been enormous: getting away from what was a pretty dire culture and everyone waiting for the next round: some hoping to be included (old timers) and others worried about being able to pay their mortgage. I don't have any advice, other than, put yourself first. No one else will...
  11. Hi All, I am new around here. Approx 10years ago I bought a Quarq power meter off a rodent named Otter. It has worked flawlessly until a couple of weeks ago. Battery replaced, calibration failing and numbers all over the shop. It's time for a new one. What's the go these days? Looking for crankbased as 10 year old non working powermeter chainset will ruin my street cred if I leave it on the bike. Steno
  12. If they were four white skinned girls you wouldn’t have got them a car?

  15. Cotton, Can Google to get a feel of the predictions for new iPhones. New Pixel is typically very end Oct, first week of Nov. If wanting cheap and overseas, have a look at Oppo
  16. Have a friend racing who has sent me a video.... rain is pelting down sideways. It looks really really ugly. I would not want a deep front wheel!!
  17. So..... I think about dying often and 6months ago I never had... I shared a recent heart health story and this journey was compounded by a CT scan of my heart picking up an unrelated abnormal mass / tumour in my back. A month of MRIs, seeing Cancer specialists and having a biopsy of a "mars bar" sized tumour resulted in a diagnosis of a benign ganglioneuroma. That was a bit scary! To finish things off.... I applied for life insurance and they promptly rejected me! Back to the heart... Mum nearly died a few years ago from Brugada syndrome (heart thingy); having not had a heart issue previously. It is disease you can inherit, so I was told to not exercise til "cleared" and had many many tests: bloods, physical, scans, ecgs, etc. I passed all with flying colours. Fast forward... and I am now looking into surgery, ablation and on heart medication at the age of 38. Rather than worry about testing, if you have no reason to believe that you have an issue, get on with living. You have no idea when a quick ride on a trainer may be your last with complete mental freedom.
  18. Goughy, Based in Melbourne, we had Solar installed in Aug. We have a 5kw system of 17 x 300w LG Panels and Fronius Primo inverter. Cost was just under $7k after rebates. We have 6 panels facing North and 11 panels facing West. Like you, basically someone is always in the house so consuming during daylight hours. Our power bill was $455 for May, June, July (our Gas bill is a different story!). For the period of Aug, Sept, Oct we dropped to $60. Actual numbers compared to the same quarter last year are: last year we purchased 26.11kw per day. The quarter with Solar was 3.52kw's so a saving of 86.5% less purchased usage. In terms of energy: on a sunny day, we seem to make 30-32kw's a day so we are in surplus which we sell back at 12cents and then at night, we buy at 26cents. So far in Jan we have created 600kw's so about $160 in value. In Dec 745kw, Nov 720kw. For the quarter that dropped our bill from $455 to $60 we created 1504kwh which would likely be our lowest totals (darkest month of the year). We were told payoff period for us would be 3.5 - 4years. This seems, so far, to be accurate.
  19. Correct - it is a surgical option available It’s not really the high heart rate as an issue - more the high and low sequence. Going from 180 to 30 in 1 second and the back up to 190 20secs later is no fun. This can repeat for hours. In terms of tests: I presented to emergency in AF and was captured on ECG. Had many since ECGs since, worn a halter (portable ecg) for a few days, blood tests and ultrasound of heart. Sounds like I just need to get out and do the rides and see how I go. Feels weird to feel so mortal and very hard to overcome the mental block of the chance to go AF again.
  20. Hi Guys, Been a while.... I have had an interesting time, being the elite endurance athlete that I was, I have in September spent 3 days in hospital with AF. Reality is, I have had AF numerous times before including in Three Peaks ride and I suspect in a few other events, numerous training and just generally. After many tests, followups and seeing different specialists, the end result is I am able to slowly get back into exercise, but need to take tablets to do so. I am told AF won't kill me, but has left me uneasy: particularly due to riding to work (11km pancake flat) has seen my heart at 200bpm and dropping to 40: feeling like I was close to the pearly gates! I'm not against the tablets, but they have side effects of drowsiness and slow heart rate (around 30-40bpm constantly) so not ideal either. The other slight complication to my heart condition, is mum has a defib implanted due some issues she had a few years ago (and had to have her heart shocked in front of me 12 times, which was the survival record for Vic!) - which kinda has me freaked out also... So... * Any sufferers of AF amongst us? How do you handle/deal with it? Love any comments * Any had to work ongoing challenges with exercise? How did you mentally overcome the barrier? what worked for you? Steno

  24. Yep I read it pretty clearly as from RCS and have found them pretty upfront always. Also post to add value rather than just sell. Disclaimer: my thules come from RCS Disclaimer 2: a friend used to work there, probably 15 years ago before he left for celebrity fame and fortune
  25. Don't think we have had this question, if we have I couldn't find it. What are people using/recommending in the $500 range and $1000 range? Looking to get a set of wheels that can do on road and some CX stuff. Does not need to be tubeless compatible. Steno
