Why do you/don't you wear Hoka's?

I hear they have started a wider version for the hoka's. I currently have NB in a 2E but it is a very wide 2E. Previously I was in the brooks adrenaline 4E but they stopped sending them to Aus. Tried Hoka's a couple of years ago and they were to narrow. After a 10k run the blisters told me so! Wanting to try them again, but tend to stick with what I feel comfortable with.

elite energy new ultimate triathlon series

Hey Emo, With the CCTri club we ride up the pacific hwy to Swansea and back from Toowoon Bay. You could start the bike leg in Budgewoi and head north up the south bound side of the pac hwy. Cars can be diverted to the other side as there are 2 lanes all the way from the Swansea round about to Doyalson. There is a merging lane with a round about that can be the turn point just short of Swansea. Works out to be about 19.5ks one way so 2 full laps would be just short of 80ks. With a little more tinkering we could get another 5 in somewhere on each lap!! The run would be a 2 lap course along the same route as the Wyong tri's and go to the end of the cycle path. Throw in a few extra turns in the streets around Lake st and you will have the 21.1 you need. Not sure of the logistics in relation to the Pacific Hwy but hey, they shut down a major route from Port to Lake Cathie each year so why not give it a tri... Cheers Andrew

Hey Emo, any chance of a long course race on the Central Coast to build on the great races you started there last year?

    Most popular Sports person

Greg Norman - Idolised him growing up as a kid. Spent so much time on the golf course I wanted to be just like him. Jack, Arnold and Gary I have read so many stories about and just loved that they could be mates as well as competitors.

    Avoiding Cramping

Based on the numbers you put up in your first post I would guess dehydration. 1 bottle of water on the ride with effectively 4 gels is not enough. Depending on the gel being used, most of them require water to be effectively absorbed into your body. If you don't have enough water with the gel or already inside you, your body will draw water away from your muscles to help break down the "food" in your stomach in order to absorb it. 1 bottle of hammer would probably be sufficient without the gels. Trying your race plan in training is the key. If you hadn't had gels or the Hammer in training then your body probably hadn't got used to it and reacted accordingly. Hope this helps. Cheers Andrew P.S. Smoking time for your first 70.3!!!!

West Sydney 70.3 Roll Call (and sledging)

Emailed the organisers about road closures. Received the below response: "Hi Andrew, Thanks for your email, One side of Castlereagh road will be open for the athletes to access the CIRC at all times on race day. We apologise as this is not shown on the map. But I can assure you that you will have access." I was concerned we would all have to be there prior to 4:30am which would mean a very early start for a lot of people!! Cheers Andrew

The road closure for Old Castlereagh road has an * next to it. "Local access will be maintained from 6:30am to 12 noon" Could we guess then that it will still be open for access to the site after 4:30am? Probably better to be safe than have to walk a couple of K's but seriously, closing the road 90 minutes before race start and over 2 hours before a competitor comes along it is crazy!!
