But KAM you came back for Number 2.. You must have enjoyed

    My first Ironman

Your first one isn't a race it's an experience.. Enjoy every minute, as you will never get that feeling as you cross the finish for the first time ever again. I still remember my first finish, I had goose pimples and I cried with happiness.. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc you can race.. Your 1st- smell the roses!
  3. I alternate drinks at each aid station( water, sports, water, sports etc). And consume food every 30 mins( usually solids on the bike and gels on the run). I have a special needs bag on the run which will have a long sleeved top( that I don't mind loosing) and a can of energy drink). Sometimes I stop , sometimes I don't.. Andrew like to have some crisps/cheese n bacon balls in his. Helps with the sugar overload.
  4. only full distance and I discovered ultra's last year (love love love)... and occasionally a HIM..but they hurt WAY to much..
  5. remember the songs at the start of the events but never at the end
  6. Oh and from memory it's never been 400 x 4. ' tell them they're dreaming son'. The most 100 x 4 and I know from Busso and Cairns it's been as short as 50 x 4 and there were relays.. So there is no traditional format.. Every year it's been different.. And saying only trannies can compete- shame on you..the ruling is and always has been 'anyone can compete, aslong as they finished the IM the day before'.

  8. The 1st beer mile was run by Plaz and rattie and was sponsored by Andrew and I(Cyclespeed). I'm a member ( and so is Humdrum and a few others here )of Bayside Tri Club and it's a fantastic club. Has a very similar vide to Cronulla when I was a member with Roxette, Big Chris etc( ahh the good old days). Ads emailed last year and asked if it were ok to run the beer mile this year (and was told fine). We're sponsoring it again this year. There will be prizes( same as ever year). What's not to love about that?
  9. 2 minute noodles with the broth..it worked a treat for me..nourishing and warm..
  10. Cairns is amazing.. I've trained in Boulder and its tough at first..but you get used to it and then when you get to back to OZ..bammmm
  11. if you go over 13 hrs can you still say you do ironman?

    New here!

    paging chuckie.. chuckie..
  13. from memory he was given the option to do Kona last year or the year before, as part of a doco(media spot). The lead up to Kona was Melbourne and his experiences training blah blah blah..but that fell through due to he and his wife having twins.. Personally I don't think sports people are heroes..true heroes are doctors, scientists, ambo's..but then there isn't much money to made from them..

Yes they own both.. if you have a budget, make sure the bike shop knows what it is and stick to it.
  15. I put the bends in the staples.
