  1. I've paid up for the Kingscliff Individual Olympic Triathlon this Sunday 3rd November. KieranR your post motivated me to have a lash this weekend, I hope I can get the job done for your daughter's best mate... Thanks everyone for your encouragement, cheers Rod

  2. I was talking to Ben from Caden yesterday at Penrith. A guy came up to thank Ben for his new disc wheel and tell him how good it was, then inquired why Ben had been calling him to bring his wheel back in for a "check". Ben said nothing was wrong, but they had some upgraded bearings they were using on the newest discs, and that if he dropped his wheel in Ben would pop the new bearings in for him free of charge so his wheel would be at its optimum. Thats the difference.

  3. Firstly, I'm super new to this forum, but in only a week or two it's been great and you guys are really supportive - thank you! I've only done a handful of sprints and 1 Olympic before this and then someone in my training group suggested WS as a first 70.3 and before I knew it I was training for it and entered... I've never been very athletic (I was the girl who cried when she got picked for the 1500m at school) and never ever thought I'd be able to do this. That's the excuses for a slow time out of the way! I had a really good training programme beforehand and train with a squ

  6. WS 70.3 Race Report Pre Race 4 weeks out from the race I managed to tear my calf which obviously prevented me from running in led up. Prior to this I was running probably the best I have ever run. With only 3 Alter G runs in the 4 weeks, I knew I was lacking run fitness. The upside was I could concentrate on my swim and bike. This was my 13th or 14th half distance race. Race Day I was feeling great and ready to race. It has been 2.5 years since my last bigger event so I was really excited. It was very warm early in the morning so I knew hydration

  7. Swim went well, bike went well, had no legs in the run as expected. Set out of T2 with Mick Ennis, but that lasted about 1k. Forgot my garmin and HRM so was doing all on feel. I once forgot my cycling shoes a few years back! Time to regroup, pick some races for next year. Decided to not put the cash down until im ready to commit 100% to training and diet. Also need a new bike!

  8. For someone that was totally underdone and overweight, I was pleased with my efforts on the day. Good swim (in @ 42% the field); good bike - (in @ 54% of the field) and as usual, slow as anything on the run. 17 of 28 in my AG. Not as hot as I though it would be - up until 5 kms into the run. I might even do a race report - the 1st since 2002. FM

  10. If so it worked. She got a new job with their main competitor a few weeks ago, in a role where she really wanted her career to go.

  11. yep, agree, I think getup has zero credibility though, but TC must have an idea. I can't believe Dutton has never even set foot on Manus.

  12. I was a bit skeptical about Don Burke being guilty, until Suzie Oneil has come out. What a thing to say. If he said that to a girl in front of me, let alone my girlfriend, I would have belted him. I do hope the cash cow is innocent.

  15. Good to see a great turn out for the race on the weekend! Unfortunately for me it was probably one race too many for the year and was running on fumes all day but happy to get across the line and spend the next week full of a going away, a 21st and a music festival... might be harder than the race!

  19. After riding up it for the past 2 days, decided to run up a mountain. Might have to have a crack at finishing in under 60 mins next time. 11k's @ average 7%. https://www.strava.com/activities/1290845893/overview

  20. Yep they will FP, I’m building it up to be a tourer, takes me ages as I prefer to do stuff myself and with colleagues instead of paying shops to do it. Will build the actual draws in the next week or so then put a floor on top of the frame then I can start my electrical work in the tray.

  21. 95min easy mixed trail run with my neighbor. Her phone kept announcing to the world that our pace was 10.30 per mile. She still has the phone but it was nearly swimming with fishes.

  22. I used it yesterday for the first time, foam pissed out everywhere, not sure if I was doing it right, but it worked. Pretty sure it’s good for 90% of small punctures, but gashes etc no good.

  23. I agree with all above. Go do it, have fun and be proud of your effort. People do this sport for all different reasons whether it be to win, having fun doing something active, or to overcome challenges life dishes up, or whatever. I'd say most people at races are supportive and have a mutual respect for each other because of a shared interest in the sport and recognition of effort, regardless of how long they're on the course. There might even be more support for those out on the course longer, because people understand the individual effort is just as hard but goes on for a longer time.

  24. Please do it! And report back here! I want to show my daughter whose best friend has CF and is currently in hospital again that people with CF can live a fulfilling life and do amazing things! Time doesn’t matter! It matters that you’re having a crack

  25. Haven't been doing much 'training' lately, but I did get to do a nice 30km training run up Mt Kosciusko this morning. A couple of friends & myself left Thedbo at 4.00am and ran to the summit to watch the sunrise. It was sensational at the top with snow packs scattered throughout the mountains (I'd add a photo if I could, it was pretty cool). A few Km's into the return journey I ran into a different friend and decided to go back up to the top with him. We then ran home the long way via Dead Horse Gap. The scenery was spectacular, what a beautiful country we live in and how lucky are we

  26. Mate most people on here accept that anything under 13 hours is ok, anything over that doesn't count. If you cant do an olympic in under 13 hours, enter a sprint As for belittling serious athletes, thats the nature of triathlon, most people who do them long enough beat everyone eventually. Triathlon is about you, just enter and do your best.

  27. The time you cross the finish line is irrelevant my friend, and the majority in this chosen sport of ours will applaud the fact that you turned up to the start and cheer your finish - whoever you are and however long it takes.

  30. Could be your standard crap sandwich style feedback - put the bad between 2 slices of good to make it more palatable. This specific example, I don't reckon the Manager worries about the positive feedback if she really has it in for her. See if it's possible for the girl to approach the manager again, after the heat is out of the issue: "Yesterday, you mentioned understanding what the account managers go through, is it possible for me to shadow an account manager for a day to gain a better understanding?" It might be not be possible, but at least lets the manager know she is

  33. oops sorry, treat it like any performance management issue. Part of the role of a manager is to lead by example, coach etc. Bullying is a serious issue and it may just take one disgruntled employee to go to Fair Work. Fair Work actually look after workplace bullying now. it used to be the Anti discrimination commission, but no longer. It is actually better because the employee can not receive compensation this way, but fair work would investigate and ensure you have some things in place, i.e policies etc. They would have to engage a lawyer. if you have any questions let me know

  34. I send my most formal, technically correct emails to people who are bullying fools like you describe. Brings out the best passive aggressive in me. I also have recently walked out of a meeting where said person was bullying another team member. He confronted me afterwards and said not to dare do that again. My response was that if you treat anyone like that in my presence, I'll do it again. Managemnet did NOTHING.
