Anyone done it?

Wanting to wear them for the Hell of the West but trying to put them all in a hurry in when you're wet and sticky is quite difficult.... and time consuming. I figured if I could swim in them without them affecting my time that would be the best option.

Thoughts?

I have swum in them (I used to use them when I had a sleeveless suit). They seem ok, but I am not a fast swimmer so I would not notice.

What are they? I googled them and got a picture of a chicken restaurant in Arkansas.

Ride & run faster & you won't need them Cranky. You should be finished before 10am. :)

Probably only 30 degrees at 10am. Certainly no hotter than Kona. Are you out running now to acclimatize?

Try them at the dam at 4:30 Saturday. I'll be the only one there, and I promise not to laugh.

Much. :)

No. I can't run atm. Olivia is trying to sabotage my training. She hurry my foot. Giving it a week off.

4:30am - I can do.
4:30pm - I can't

4:30pm there'll be 2,000 people there if the weather forecast is correct.

Of course I meant 4:30am. :)

ps: the Open Water crew took off at 3:15am last weekend.

I'm planning 2 x 3.3km loops.

I could be persuaded to do different if you wish.

I've used the full version and it's a skin saver. The wings I find get twisted up in the wetsuit.

De Soto stuff rocks as well. So much better than anything else on the market.

That's OK with me. What pace you swimming. I hope I'll keep up. I'm about a 1:45-1:50/100m

Sit my feet. You'll be right.

I'm doing a hard session tomorrow morning, so Saturday will be a steady swim. Maybe a little fartlek on the way back on the last lap.

Ok the verdict is in. They are fine to swim in. I put them on under my tri suit to keep them in place better. They were a little hot though. I also felt a bit easier on the second lap when I wasn't wearing them but didn't really notice that it was difficult on the 1st... If that makes sense.

So with that I think I will wear them for the hell of the west as I will only be in the water for about 40 minutes and they will do a great job at keeping me cool on the bike and run.

Doing another long one out there Sunday if you're looking to build up for a channel swim Cranky. Thinking of adding a 3rd lap this time, so you could duck out for a run while I'm doing the last lap.

Or join in :)

So after all this. ..I'm not wearing them. There's no water on course until 40km. By then they'll be dry and bloody hot! I'm not caring water just to wet them. Not worth the effort. I'd need to carry too much
