My wife has massive issue with heart rate strap chaffing.

Mine chafes a bit on my chest, but hers is way worse.

We both use body glide to try to help, for me that solves the problem, but it does not work for her.

Any ideas welcome!

Mrs has her eye on the Fenix 5 for this reason.  I was hoping to find a cheaper option!!  Not sure I can convince her to go the 3, will try though!

I use a Mio Fuse optical HRM that you wear like a watch instead of the chest strap

ozzybuds,

Does this solve the "working & recording whilst swimming" issue with the standard HR monitor that picks up electromagnetic impulses?

ie: Does it work while swimming?

Yes, it works while swimming with my F3 but only when worn on the same wrist as my watch. They pretty much need to be right next to each other.

I got mine for $40 on ebay, brand new in sealed original packaging. A couple of my mates got on to the same deal and then the seller disappeared from ebay. I guessing they might not have been legitimately obtained to be going at that price......

They are still pretty good value at the regular price though, especially when compared to the cost of a new HR unit from Garmin. Just worth noting that they need to be worn quite tight on the wrist to avoid dropouts. Have had no issues with chafing or the like. The battery won't get you through a full IM either, unless perhaps your name is Frodeno. Will see you through a 70.3 though.

At only 8 hours battery life it wouldn't last out an Ironman....

...at least not at the pace I race! LOL

Price from HK is $113.50 - given the conventional ones are about 30 bucks how does that make this cheap?

Otherwise looks great! :)

Electric signals not electromagnetic impulses - you may be an ironman but you are not electromagnetic!
