If they get the location right in Australia people will come.

IM Gold Coast. They'd never get the approvals, but swim in the Broadwater right in the heart of Southport, then ride South along the main road in to Nthrn NSW & back, 1 or 2 loops, then run North along the Broadwater, turn and then down along the surf front & back. 2 loops. Promote it properly & put it on in May before the westerlies start.

You'll get as many as you want from all round the world (particularly Asia) for that race.

edit to add: Fast, flat, and a real draft fest. RBR will be on it.

You could do the half twice ,  Faster than 99% of  the locals so you will still get in under cut off

cheaper too

Apparently you can do a full, and it still counts as a half anyway.

I read that somewhere earlier today. :)

But they won't have spots for Kona.

We have already had 70.3 in Sri Lanka in  the exact location in 2012.

I did it and it was a horror story.

You cannot swim in the Ocean in front of Galle Face Green except on the afternoon before and on race day.

Reason being is that the Tamils still sneak in and place underwater mines as the place is adjacent the navy base.

The race Hotel opposite the site charges 5 Star rates for 2 star accommodation.

The traffic was unable to be kept off the race course as there are 700,000 tuk tuks in Colombo who ignore any form of road closures.

The traffic on the course is horrific....Faris Al Sultan got clipped twice by vehicles whilst leading and with a police escort.

I won my age group whilst towing the pro women around on the bike as I was asked to run interference for them for 90k,as they were crapping themselves.

Ive raced all over the world and I can say that I have never been at a more poorley organised event ever.

Faris Al Sultan said at the presentations that whilst it was an experience for us all it didn't need to be ever repeated.

There would need to be major rethinks about how they ran this event based on the first one.

Sri Lanka outside of Colombo is a nice place and we had 6 days touring after.

But remember its very like India if you've been there......Your wife or female partner will get touched up on public transport, its like a national sport.....grope the blonde tourists.

Thats a shocking photo when you look at the detail given what they could have used - nothing that would inspire me to go within cooee.  Mate stayed there a few years back somewhere flash (?).  Two bodies where dumped on the beach the day he left.

Singapore 70.3 2012 is the most brutal run I've ever raced in. 39C and 200% humidity. (Harder than Langkawi IM even. ) My best ever result 5th.

LOVED IT. Was gutted when Aviva pulled their sponsorship, killing the race.
