Ironman Texas 22/4 still can enter

98 posts in this topic

My heart goes out to the family & friends of the athlete who died in the swim today. It puts things into prespective.

non wetsuit swim for a 1:16, 2min quicker than Ironman Arizona.  I got knocked around a lot but got it done.

Bike was tough esp the second half.  The wind come up & it was a head wind no matter what direction we were heading.

I copped a BS penalty for drafting in the first 20km.  They got me on a rise.  The tent was full of ppl who had been done.  I copped it & got on with the ride.  I think I went 5:36 on the bike.

A 32 min PB for a 4:02 marathon.

Ended up with a 11:06 & 28min over all PB.

The chase for a sub 11 continues. Wetsuit & non penalty I might have got it this time.

Just sitting in a restaurant waiting for my burger, fries & donuts.

If you hadn't drafted you definitely wouldn't.  ;-)

Come to Busso in December.  Fastest course in this or any other universe and we actively encourage cheating.  Sub-11 guaranteed.

No way mate

IM texas is way faster than busso , even if your from WA and cut half the course

the amount of super fast times coming out of today at Texas just seem unbelievable

You know his policy.  No race more than once.

He isn't one of the boring sheep that do Port Mac 10 years in a row and never another course. (Replace Port with Busso or IMNZ)

So true and that's great for him and his family asthey get to see lots of different places , but unfortunately everyone isn't in a position financially to travel as much just to do an IM

but more importantly where is he gunna find another fast or faster course than this one , so he can go sub 11

roth maybe , but even Roths super fast times don't seem to go as deep into the field than this race , especially now roths marathon is a lot closer to 42.2 k than what it was a few years ago

anyways B@W shows you if you are keen , train  hard and have a great attitude the results will come

cheers

I think it's called TrueBlood.  Basically soft porn with vampires.

True.  I decided a while ago we don't need nice cars etc & we live a modest life back home.  We could have a big mortgage in a nice suburb but we would rather travel.

interestingly when I started to get serious about training & applying myself to Ironman racing, I did the same at work.  Just stuffing around to get things finishedno longer intrest me.  With that change in attitude has come promotions & $$$ which allows us to travel more.

My boss promised me another promotion if I got under 11hrs. Damm

It's not looking good.  A quote from one of the racers over on Slowtwitch:

Quote

It's relatively flat and wasn't very windy (despite all the epic wind stories the AG field will no doubt report). I went 4:31 on just 233 watts AP. And it was only 110 miles.

Surely Ironman are going to create a course soon to get the iron distance record off Roth?

Interesting the finish of the bike was sooner than I expected.  I'll have to check the Garmin when I get home.

I guess it's like the year Luke went sub 8 in Busso & all the age groups said the winds were brutal on the bike.  What year was that Sticky?  I remember you & humdrum saying the wind was the worst ever in Busso.

There might be a problem with it, your excellent run uploaded to Strava just fine but no sign of the bike?  Weird.

I think you're mistaken though, 2015 the swim was average but the bike and run were pretty good.  You might be thinking of some complaints about the road surface in the new section of the bike added that year.  Besides you know it's always downhill with a tailwind in Busso.

Not weird at all.  My run is off the Garmin Fenix.  My bike was recorded off my Garmin 800 which doesn't have Bluetooth & I can't up load it (no laptop with me)

you will also notice no swim time.  My fenix was in my T2 bag.

Nice try.

That matches most files on Strava.  175-176km seems to be the verdict.  Not sure how much "Starky" got the bike record by but that's 6.5 minutes at his speed, previous record was at Florida wasn't it?

How did you search strava for course files? " last years was short due to the flooding.

I don't really give a shit.  I ran a 4:02 Marathon & experienced another race in an awesome location.

We all know pommies are tough and don't judge each other by how fast they can do an IM
