Police Auctions stolen bikes

22 posts in this topic

I wonder how hard they try and find owners.

At breen auctions now and there is a xxl focus. Top spec bike.

Pretty rare. I scroll thru the lost bikes page and find a guy that had it stolen.

Message him. He calls me. I call the cops.

Bike taken off the auction.

He was pretty happy its been found. 10k bike.

Some other very nice rides here. A few s works and a mint cannondale 54cm. Too small for me.

A cannondale sold for 1800 today. It was only 2200 brand new.

People go stupid at auctions.

There were some Giants on that auction list. Maybe one was yours.

I couldn't imagine that many thieves dumb enough to pinch one, and if they did, it would be on the auctions for years till it sold.

Not likely.  It was stolen in 2003

As Roxii says they probably stole it, facepalmed and dumped it

I left a Giant outside the house to get pinched for insurance. Next day I found 2 there.

ST have an article on the "Big Value! But under-appreciated Giant". Giant sells much better in Australia than in the US.

Disclaimer - I think that my Giant Propel is a fantastic road bike. One of its biggest advantages is that I can park it out the front of the coffee shop knowing that no one will steal it

A stolen iPhone 7 will get you perhaps one or two ice hits I was recently told.

The crooks don't care what the bike is worth and probably got next to nothing for it.

Went to court recently (for a look) and was amazed at the dumb stuff people were doing to get themselves there.  Alcohol and drugs...

Among the bikes in my garage (inc Cervello, Scott, Azuri (don't ask) and custom steelies) I have been trying to think of something I don't like about the Giant but sorry, the only fault I can find with it is the engine (but I did file the safety tips off the front forks to make it easier to load and unload from the boot of my car - does anyone else do that?).
