Ozchat swim 1999 (I think).

For those that don't know, Ironman Oz had a chat section on their website ("Ozchat:). It used to get pretty heated and rather political incorrect. King Ken had to monitor all the time. Sometime around early 2000 it was shut down. From there, Transitions was created by Bernie (sorry, I haven't got the cowgirl outfit photo). Then Roxii took over and the rest is history.

The photo. Back then, there was the original Kamahl who was the class clown, song writer and all round laugh guy. This was the 1st time we met him so we decided to get dressed up as a goat herder to make him feel safe. He is still online here but I think he is up to about his 20th nom de plume.

That was all Tinley's fault.

And I shaved mine off for the race. :)

I grew mine because of the other Scott. Dave

Actually with 3 of the big 4 Scotts (STinley S Molina And Dave (the man) Scott. I did consider changing my name to Scott Scott.

A friend suggested Scott Noidea was more apt ...

I've got some old photos  will go looking

Not an old photo (I just took it this morning), but this is a genuine 1990 IM World Championship sun visor. Still in as new condition. I found it in the bottom of a drawer a few weeks ago, and it's now my go to cap for walking the dog. :)

That's after the repairs. You should have seen it the year before.

That'd be 1999 for sure.

The year they recommended at briefing if you went into one of the potholes to drop it back to the small chainring for the climb out.

Noosa tri shirt from around 1990. Mint condition if not for the time I flexed.

Pretty sure that's Forster 2004 - yours truly in the background :)  behind Smithy who is behind Roxii who is behind Paul Every who is behind Mrs Hymie)

If I am not mistaken that was the year that saw those most feared of words uttered "It's a no wetsuit swim!" that left us hour-15 plus hacks very worried....

Such a great race. I remember doing it in 1994 and then driving through the night to make Uni lectures in Melbourne the next morning at 0800!

What I would give for a weekend like that now!

Last time I did it we finished the race and then drove back to Sydney for work Monday.... Definately too old for that now :-)

Doing a race over here in a few months with some mates and we're going "old school" on it. We're getting the train there (£12 tickets cf £150 driving), staying in "moderate" accommodation, no phones / wives / girlfriends for the weekend, racing hard and going for a few beers afterwards.

Since the Uni and immediately post-Uni days, triathlon has become really corporate and mainstream and needs to be taken back to "fun".
