DQ for Nealo for zipper down, nothing to do with the rules, just remarkably poor taste :)

I understand this is the major selection race for the World Championships in Australia for the Irish team.

They should have their own wave.

funnily when I was at the 09 worlds I met up with the Irish team for a pre race swim.

The general consensus among the Irish athletes was that the water was "like a bath" I looked at them quizzically while zipping up my wetsuit!

Beautiful night here but rain expected in the morning. Let's hope it stays away.

Enjoy the extra hours sleep and see you all in the morning.

DNF - only 3rd fail to finish in 30 odd years and 200 odd races.

Some awesome individuals decided to smash bottles all over the road on the way back from the turn around - apparently they did this after the race had actually started and before the organisers could get onto it. I reckon I saw at least 50 puncture victims including a dozen cyclists just out on a training ride.

I was aware of the problem and rode in the middle of the road after the turnaround until I thought I was past the issue - but literally as I went back into the bike lane I punctured and it was quite a slash. I thought 'thank god I've got a spare, a CO2 canister and a mini pump! So let's do some tubby changing practice! All good!' ... right up until I discovered that the LBS had superglued my tubby on without leaving a gap opposite the value - dispite my explicit instructions! Even with levers that I borrowed from another puncture victim and the help of a passing cyclist who seemed to know what he was doing that sucker was not coming off!

So, ok - Change of strategy - use Pitsstop. Fail No.2 - silicon was going everywhere and mainly ending up all over me - it was like I was the accidental star in a bukake porn video ... Hmmmn, so I decided to walk the 8km back to transition. Fail No.3 - freaking glass everywhere. Ouch. Luckily the organisers sent out some volunteers to act as sag wagons and I got a lift back before my feet were shredded, but my day was done. Alas.

That said 'twas great to see all the old stages out there - GLT, Flanman, Roxi, Royds and Coach being ridiculously super fast!

im off to assemble my new Wahoo Kicker and put down a 40 minute trainer road/20 minute run to work off the frustration!

Well, it was great fun to actually race again (albeit in an unfit out of shape kinda way)!  Good to see lots of Trannies going around.

But the highlight for me was the feel of Roxii's firm but shapely left buttock in the palm of my hand as I passed him on the run leg.  Truly inspiring...
