I'm no expert but wouldn't mind betting Trump will quit before being punted.

Just so he can say "I told you I could do it". i.e. become President.

Trump won't get the arse.

They will NEVER impeach him.

The only reason he won't serve two terms will be because he quits himself. They need something like a 2/3 majority in the senate to impeach, so it's not just a few Republicans, but a whole bucket load needed.

It could happen.  Trump is being accused of what in many people's minds is treason - to the "godless commies no less", and for alot of his heartland that is even lower than the crap that Hilary & Obama stood for.  Getting into bed with the commies from afar, is much worse than what the latte socialists would bring.

If Trump is allowed to survive, it is going to be a landslide come 2018 mid terms, and the 2020 presidential elections, and not to the Republicans (even before factoring in the larger than usual turn out for the anti Trump protest votes).  Those senators wanting a bit of job security will not be too hard to sway

So how do we think Trump will take MT's take on him? He doesn't seem like a person who takes a joke all that well? Next phone call could be fun?  It might have been done at a function where the media have a gentleman's agreement to not report what goes on inside, but was it a silly thing for MT to have done?

Malcolm Turnbull is an idiot full stop.

And if I was Trump, I'd be straight on the phone to Turnbull.........and I'd squeeze his balls like nothing else during the conversation. And then say.....you know that little agreement we had etc etc....... We'll you can piss off....it will never happen! Lol

Yep.  They were likening it to that special media event or something which the Pres attends and they all take the shit out of him..... which is fine.  The Pres is actually there himself and it's all part of the whole thing.  But this was something completely different........

I'm really shocked by the type of PM MT has been.  The only one over the last umpteen years now that hasn't been a shock to me was TA.  He was just as I expected!

Nope and never have ( but the comment is pretty silly as you are insinuating I vote labor because I am critical of Liberal. Can we not be critical? But I reckon both Liberal and Labour are as bad as each other at the moment and have been for a long time now.

Turnbull is a very clever businessman but not so much as a politician. In the current climate he is slightly better than Rudd and Gillard.

The problem both parties have is that they both govern according to populist polls, instead of governing to what is best for the economy.

I held out so much hope for Turnbull.

Unfortunately I think the public and the polls would be kinder to him if he didn't gave to compromise his original ideals to appease the party room.

I was pondering this the other day.

I came to the conclusion that maybe he just wants grab as much power as possible, by any means possible and that he actually stands for very little other than that.

I reckon this IS the real Turnbull.

Some interesting commentary in the UK at the moment along these lines.... and in many ways similar to Australian politics.

Parties ( at least the main ones) appear to be too worried about what is best for the PARTY.... we hear the same words from UK politicians as Australian ones in terms of 'whats best fir the party'.... should May step down? Should Abbott challenge? Will the party survive the discussions on energy/security/taxatipn.... whatever?

Perhaps political parties woukd fare better with the public if they based their decisions on whats best fkr the COUNTRY and not whats best for their own party and self interest.

Its what brought the Rudd Gillard Rudd government undone, its doing the same with Turnbull /Abbott/Bernardi etc and inrernal machinations have played a huge role in the undoing of UK Conservatives (May/Cameron/Boris) as well as UK Labour party.

Politics has become like reality TV where we await who is getting voted out of the party next....

Trump is doing his bit for American jobs in one section of society, all his cohorts have hired lawyers, and even some of the lawyers have hired lawyers.

Turnbull showed his cards back when, as Kerry Packer's legal adviser, he shopped him to an investigation into media ownership because he didn't get what he wanted from Packer, despite the information being privileged and confidential.

So DT's come out and admitted he has no idea if there are recording of his and Comey's meetings in the white house, but that he certainly doesn't have them.  But you're the one who brought them up!

For nerds (like me) who like this sort of stuff

One of the interesting numbers was the installed cost for utility PV Arrays from www.nrel.gov

Comment are illuminating - the number of people who didn't actually listen to the video and posted anyway.

Unless he is impeached AND convicted of a crime specified in the US Constitution, then he is the executive and pretty much untouchable I would have thought.

BTW: No president has ever been removed from office, so I wouldn't be holding my breath for it to happen with Trump.

They need too many republicans to vote to impeach him...... doubt they'd get the numbers.

Even if they do impeach him (essentially being charged with one of the specified offences) they would still have to run a case and get a conviction before he can be removed from office. Given that they've never done it, the chances of that happening within the current term would be bugger-all, but an impeachment would impact on his re-election prospects.
