  1. Due to the enormous power I output (also weigh around 85kgs) I am having repeated spoke failures on my cheap Fulcrum Racing 5s. So I have decided to take the plunge and invest in a quality set of wheels. I have narrowed it down to two options: 1. Campy Eurus G3 things 2. Bontrager Paradigm Elite Price is pretty close to the same (Campys about $70 cheaper). Weight is close enough to not matter. They both seem to have a great reputation. The Campys would have to come from an international bike shop, the Bontragers would come from my local guy making any warranty a lot easier. I love the look of the G3 spoke pattern but also like purchasing off my local guy (I have a very good relationship with my LBS). Which would you buy?
  2. Anyone used these wheels ? Can't find any decent reviews on the web .... cal
  3. In the age of seemingly everything going offshore its good to see some niche stuff staying local. These guys are actually based in my street and are the guys Ben from Caden wheels works with to do his mouldings and prototyping. Ben is hoping to get me in to have a look at their processes soon to see how they collaborate. http://www.justcronullanews.com/2015/06/01/1-4m-for-high-tech-kurnell-company/ We are also close to getting sorted for a test pair of Caden wheels so check out his site. http://www.carbonbikewheels.com.au/ (I make no apologies for unashamedly trying to help along local businesses in our sport)

  5. Hi, Looking at 2 frames from the same manufacturer: Scott Addict 10: http://bicyclingaustralia.com.au/2014/04/scott-addict-10-review pretty unhelpful review really.. Scott foil- http://www.scott-sports.com/global/en/products/221866020/bike-foil-15-20-xs49/ Exactly same carbon grade Exactly same geometry (well 3mm different on 2 measurements) But apparently the Foil rides like a dog (feel very bump, not comfy for more than 3 hours, etc) and the addict is a pleasure to ride? Would the shapes of tubes impact the ride quality this much? What other factors might be at play here given that most of the wheels/tyre/stem/saddle etc are likely the same on the test models? Thoughts?
  6. I'm in the market for some a pair of wheels to use as general use and training, circa $200 I could buy some new ones online but there might be a better quality second hand set out there somewhere for similar dollars that someone wants to get rid of. Shimano hub and I'm not looking for any particular brand or anything, just a decent solid set, maybe a bit aero.
  7. Planet X Wheelset for sale. 1080 Rear Wheel and 808 Front Wheel, new tyres on both wheels and 2 spare new tubular tyres. Wheels have only been used to race on and not train on (6 races in total)
  8. Had my Scott Plasma 2010 TT bike and barely used Easton EC90mm race wheels for sale on here a while ago, they have now gone to auction on ebay. If anyone may be interested here are the links. 9. We've decided that we've got enough kids so I'm getting the wife a new bike (she likes the Specialized Roubaix expert) so she can start getting back into triathlon. I was thinking of putting on some nicer wheels than those that come standard and was looking at the following 2 options from Wiggle. 1. Fulcrum Racing Quattro Clincher http://www.wiggle.com.au/fulcrum-racing-quattro-clincher-wheelset/ 2. Easton ea50 clincher http://www.wiggle.com.au/easton-ea50-aero-clincher-wheelset/ Actually there was a 3rd option as well but I didn't see any great benefit for the extra $200 3. 3T Accelero 40 pro http://www.wiggle.com.au/3t-accelero-40-pro-wheelset/ I have no idea on these things so what do you reckon or is there some other option that I should be looking at. The Roubaix come with Fulcrum S4 wheels and don't even know if these are any better?? These ones look cooler anyway.

  16. 2010 SCOTT PLASMA 10 TT BIKE The time has come to bite the bullet and regrettably put my beloved TT bike and race wheels up for sale. They have been sitting on the bike rack in the garage untouched since our little baby came along 12 months ago and cannot justify to the wife any longer on hanging onto something that isn't being used! The bike was purchased at the end of 2010 from Avantiplus bike shop on Sydney Road, Brunswick for $4999 (with basic shimano wheels) and was ridden for less than 12 months, clocking up about 1500kms. I used it for 1 Half IM and also IM NZ in March 2011 and hasn't been riden since, although been cleaned regularly. It is fully decked out with Dura ace components (please click the link for all the specs). Selling the bike with Look Keo carbon pedals and 2x carbon bottle cages. It is a Medium size 54cm and has an integrated seatpost which has been fitted to my size (5'11/ 180cm) so would suit anyone from roughly 5'9 up to 6 foot. The bike is in excellent condition and never been dropped/crashed, with only slight scuff marks on the sides of the aerobars from leaning up against a wall etc. The bike is for sale with either the Easton 90mm race wheels or the Ksyrium elite road wheels. Both sets come with 10 speed shimano cassette. The details of the Easton wheels are below as I will be selling them seperate if they are not sold with the bike. Ksyrium elite wheels come with Continental Grand Prix 4000s tyres which have only done about 300kms. With Easton wheels: $4900 With Kysrium Elite wheels: $2900 PM ME IF YOUR INTERESTED Pick up would be available in Geelong or during business hours in Melbourne. They are 90mm deep carbon with ceramic bearings and Sapium spokes. Currently have 10speed shimano cassette on them but can be fitted with SRAM also. Included are 2 x wheels, 2 x Easton skewers, 2 x wheels bags, 2 pairs of Swiss Stop brake pads, glued Vittoria Corsa CX tubular tyres, Vittoria 100mm valve extenders, instruction book and spoke tool. These are superfast wheels and a regrettable sale considering I didn't even get to give them a good hitout. You will not be disappointed! These wheels sell on wiggle for $2400 for the pair not including the tyres or cassette. Selling them for $2100
  17. I have had a set of wheels which have been sitting unused as I have better toys to play with. I would estimate 500-1000 km of use, come with tyres (vittoria Evo Corsa CX) and skewers, no cassette. the wheels are fast forward f5/f9 combo. $1k posted anywhere in AUS, $950 picked up from Black rock. I might even fit them to your bike if you'd like. I'll stick some pics up later today, don't have a camera on me right now.

  19. Hi all, I am need of an upgrade to my wheels (amongst other things) on my bike. My old Mavic Wheels have a busted free wheel and I have been told it is better to replace the wheel because of the rim condition rather then replace the free wheel. My riding consist of commuting to work twice a weeks and a 100km + ride on the weekend. I am getting stronger and I am looking to upping my KMs soon. I guess I should think about doing triathlons again soon but I hace race wheels for them and time trailing. I may use then if I ever get back into rode racing. I have a Giant TCR bike with Ultegera running gear so I looking for a rear wheel to match. I have been looking on chainreactioncycles dot com and seams like the Shimano R530 Clincher (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=38246 is the best value for money suiting my purposes. Has any had any experience with the R530 wheel? An good Alternatives? Alan
  20. I need some advice from those in the know about wheels. When do you replace the spokes? How often? Is there an obligatory kms? Or just when they break? What about nipples? Replace one replace all? Does this nipple look stuffed? Is there such thing as an oversized nipple head that can be bought? Why I ask this is that I true my wheel about once a month and I feel that might be a bit too often, so maybe its time for some new spokes as there might have lost their strength. Could the reason be my style of riding where I grind rather than spin? Can all spokes be replaced with Blades spokes? Or would that be overkill for what is essentially a training wheel? Ive got a sneaking suspicion that bladed spokes are stronger than standard ones. Should i just send it to the LBS for a spoke replacement? btw the wheel in question is a Mavic Open Pro 32 hole DT swiss with PT hub.
  21. So I'm looking into upgrading from using the roady with tri bars to a faster rig. I brought the roady as it's more of an all year round option and more durable. However it's not the best for TTing and I can definately go faster if I do some upgrades. My question is am I better off throwing my money at some fast wheels, say an 85mm rear and 65 front or am I better off upgrading the frame and getting a more TT setup? I would just take the gear of my roady and put it on a new TT frame. I will probably go for the frame but I thought that this would be a good discussion topic for a few of the people on here.
