  1. How's the training for IMOz going? Should be tapering about now? However, you should be looking at the main event at IMOz! So, it's time to get ready for the very famous 2017 Transitions Beer Mile to be held at Town Green on 8 May 2016 at 3:30pm in front of the pub at the finish area of IMOz. We are now recognised as part of the Finishers Celebrations and the Beer Mile will occur after the Roll Down Ceremony. I will contact our very special Secret Sponsor and hopefully they will be supporting the Beer Mile yet again....this is the 7th year that we have had this support from this amazing anonymous sponsor...Thankyou again. I believe that we will have some very famous IMOz Legends and Hall of Famers in attendance again....think Karen Pini, Ken Baggs OAM, DCM (DO Come Monday) and some more wonderful personalities, just like the 2015 30th Anniversary IMOz and accompanying Beer Mile. I would love to get some exposure on TV, such as Ch 8 (the Ch 9 equivalent for cities) and I have wriiten to Peter FitzSimmons several times to get a mention in the SMH and The Age (I expect). So, if anyone from Port Macquarie has any contacts with Ch.8 or Ch.6, then can you try to get some coverage for the event. I believe that we should also be part of the IMOz video highlights, that we used see at the Awards Ceremony, so let's try to swing them around for some footage. Anyway, for those that don't understand what the Transitions Beer Mile is about...It is the celebration and relief of having finished IMOz within the cut off time so that you qualify to race the Transitions Beer Mile the next day. It consists of drinking a can of beer, running 400M (440 yards), drinking another beer, running 400M etc etc, until you have run a mile (1760 yards or 1600M) and drunk 4 cans of beer. Your choice of dress is encouraged and we have the usual boys dressed up as girls, boys dressed up as dogs. Go Snoopy from 2015, there are also Fairies, Dinosaurs, German Beeren Hausen, ladies called Carrots, the Safari Suit Twins, the Stig, Angus from AC/DC, blokes wearing attire from their youth and the list goes on and on. However, you should look at some of the accompanying vids from previous Beer Miles. There is also the Transitions Mile Of Famers perpetual trophy and if you believe you should be on it for this year, then PM me and for $5 and a good record of service or participation in previous Beer Miles, I will get you on this year's honour list. Also, I see that there is a Half Ironman on the same day as IMOz, so we are having a Transitions Beer Half Mile for those from the HIM who want to enter. Also, as we recognise the Responsible Drinking of Alcohol we will allow those that want to compete and drink Chardonnays, Milk, Gatorade or even Soft Drink. Unfortunately, there is no award available for these responsible drinkers at this stage. We're hoping that Big Chris will come on board again with the Timing Guys to do the timing again and also set up the on-line registration for this 'training event'. So, look out for his link for registering. Here are some vids of previous Trannie Beer Miles and accompanying links to relevant items. 2015 IMOz Beer Mile Karen Pini... for those of us from Forster IM days, Miss Karen would welcome every finisher across the line and she is, like Ken Baggs an IMOz Hall of Famer. Ask some of your older IM mates for Karen's rise to fame, apart from Paul Hogan's show. Speedy Steve 2010 Beer Mile 2009 Beer Mile 2011 Beer Mile http://forums.transitions.org.au/index.php?showtopic=49434 Transitions Post from Ratdog for 2011 Beer Mile TGL's take on the 2011 Beer Mile If you feel any pressure to participate in the very famous IMOz Trannie Beer Mile, then please visit these links for assistance..... http://www.aa.org.au/ https://www.tomwaterhouse.com/ http://www.standard....arnival/?cs=383 http://www.triradar....t-ruin-my-race/ http://rethinkingdri...fusalskills.asp http://ie.reachout.c...ssure-to-drink/ http://www.google.co...iw=1536&bih=694 http://www.aptriathl...e-of-the-cycos/ http://www.smh.com.a...1210-2z42b.html http://www.smh.com.a...0320-354ih.html http://www.chisel-fi...lonby-cheating/ http://www.dummies.c...heat-sheet.html http://au.linkedin.c...fuga/45/47a/367 http://edition.cnn.c...-ped-explainer/ As we are now part of the Monday Official Celebrations for IMOz, we are being asked to turn around near the Finish Area and we will do 4 laps of such, just like I have been doing for the last 15 years. I knew my finishing performances would be adopted by the hierarchy eventually. Here is a clip of a typical turn around at the Finish Line! The reason for this is so we don't jeopardise the licensing of the area for IMOz. Our finishing area will be close to the finish line, but away from the designated licensed area. and finally http://www.youtube.c...bed/oXvJ8UquYoo As most of you city slickers go to gyms and train to music, here are some clips to help you with your Beer Mile Training.... https://www.youtube.com/embed/CZ85j6U2Fvs And finally if you want to lose some weight, have a look at this bloke's story..... http://www.nasvik.se/fat-to-fit/ I will post again in the next week with more info, but please post your intention to attend this 'training event'. Thanks, CoffsPete
  2. The Ironman organisation, jealous of the immense shadow cast over their little "adventure festival", continue to try and diminish the crownign glory that is the Beer Mile.  This year they have attempted to prevent the event from occuring by moving their post-race party forward to minimise available time between ceremonies.  Thus the IMCBMOC has made the (frankly sensational) decision to conduct the first ever Breakfast Beer Mile!  Time:  Meet 9:15am for a 9:30 sharp start Location:  Approx 2 kms North of finish line and expo., located a few hundredm north of the toilets opposite Coral Towers (aka Trannie Towers.)  At the completion of the Ironman Beer Mile there shall follow a "haf-mile" (paradoxically still a full mile) for those who completed the previous day's 70.3.  BYO alcohol - all drinks must be full strength, carbonated, in unopened cans (no glass permitted) and a minimum of 330mL.  Rules are as follows:  - All entrants must provide evidence of having completed an Ironman in the previous 24 hours, conveniently there will be one held at this location the day prior - Fancy dress while not essential is highly encouraged for competitors - At the signal of the starter, participants shall open their first drink and imbibe until complete - Upon completion competitors will up-end the empty vessel above their head to demonstrate total consumption - Athletes shall then run to the to the marked turn-around point and return - Repeat the above three further times until a total of four beverages have been consumed and 1600m total have been run - If at any time after being swallowed a competitor's drink should reappear a futher beverage must be taken prior to being declared an official Beer Mile finisher  As usual the IMBMOC encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol with due care and consideration of members of the general public.  See you all there. PS - you may struggle to find a bottle shop open before 9am on Monday so best to organise it tonight or tomorrow afternoon (finish time dependent.)
  3. Ladies and gentlemen (or ladettes and lads as it may be afterwards) it is almost time for the annual running of the Ironman Western Australia Beer Mile. I hope you have your entries organised for the qualifying event to put you in with a chance of taking home the last available beer mile title for the year 2015. Rumor has it that the field will be hot, unlike the inevitable bloke that shows up in a dress, but as always there will be late scratchings so a Bradbury-like performance is certainly not out of the question this year. If you've completed the qualifier and you're over 18 there is no excuse, get your caboose down to the Goose! Date: Monday, 7th of December Time: 3:00pm for a strict 3:30pm start Venue: Busselton Jetty, near the Goose cafe Rules: - You must have COMPLETED an Ironman event in the last 24 hours. Any Ironman will do but as one is being held in Busselton the previous day, that is probably most convenient. - Each participant must provide a minimum of five of their own beverage of choice. - All beverages consumed must be FULL STRENGTH and over 330mL in volume. Random inspections will be conducted. - All beverages must be unopened and in cans or other unbreakable containers. Due to Worksafe restrictions glass will not be allowed. - This is an open course and members of the public (i.e. non-competitors) have right of way at all times during the event. - To ensure that future events may be held at the current ideally located venue all mess must be cleaned prior to departure - Fancy dress is encouraged, the more ludicrous the better. - All decisions by the race director are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Race procedings: - On the starters instructions all contestants will open their first beverage and begin imbibing. - Upon completion the participant shall invert the vessel on their head to demonstrate complete consumption. - The racer shall then complete one lap (400m) of the designated course, crossing the start/finish line before the second leg begins. - The above shall be repeated until a total of four beverages have been consumed and four runs completed. - If at any point a participant should "express their inner selves" one further beverage must be consumed before the course will be considered complete. Prizes: Token awards will be presented to first across the line, first female, final finisher and "best" dressed. The first Transitions member to complete the course (Tranny name will be accepted as proof) will be awarded the Transitions Beer Mile Shield. There is still time for some last minute preparation. Good luck with the qualifier and we will see you out in force on Monday.
  4. Well, with less than 4 weeks to go to IM Cairns, I was wondering if there would be any takers for a Beer Mile on the Monday 15 June at 3:00pm on The Esplanade just North of last year's Beer Mile, so we are out of the security cameras view. The Beer Mile location is approx 2 kms North of last year's finish line and expo. Also, it is located about 200M North of the toilets opposite Coral (Trannie) Towers. If you want to participate then post here, but after the very successful IMOz Trannie Beer Mile 2015, we have blown the budget (again), so you will have to bring your own 4 cans of beer and support crew. I will have a new Mile of Famers Trophy for IM Cairns Beer Mile. I will also have the usual IM Cairns Trannie Beer Mile badges for those who register on here. Here is a link to IMOz 2015 Beer Mile just gone.... And probably the best vid ever of a Beer Mile from Gizmo. If this link doesn't work then go to post #161 from IMOz 2015 Beer Mile on page 7 and open it up. Beer Mile from Cairns last year.. going to miss it 2015 but reckon will be back 2016.. Featuring the full and half BM and introducing Miss "Carrots". PASSWORD IS beermile
  5. Just getting in early to warn all that the 30th IMOz will be a great occasion. However, the Very Famous Trannie Beer Mile for 2015 will be an even more prestigious affair. I'm hoping to get IM Royalty for the event. (In the past we have had Dave Orlowski 3rd placegetter in the original 1978 IM) But for 2015, it could be a female of even greater stature! Because it will be the 30th year of IMOz, then the Very Famous Trannie Beer Mile for 2015 will be a culmination of the previous years Beer Miles. So, I am putting the word out for some of the Beer Mile Originals to come to Town Green at 3:00pm on Monday 4 May 2015. People like the instigators of the early events, Peter, Alex, Speedy Steve from Busselton, RatDog from Thailand (already confirmed), Ken Baggs, Gizmo, Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, Fozzie, Squid, The Grafton Kid, PIS, Mad Dog, our very Secret Sponsor, TGL, Sharks, etc etc etc et al. Also, if anyone has any trophies they would like to donate for the event then they will be very welcome. At IM Cairns this year I managed to snaffle a lot of trophies like Cam's Hat Trick, Worst Lady Bowler, 1964 Champ, Smallest Fish Caught....etc etc. So, if you would like to present a trophy from your own trophy cabinet, then I will have some white stick-on tabs, so that you can rename your trophy accordingly. Get ready for a truly amazing Very Famous Trannie Beer Mile for 2015.
  6. Well, it's time to talk about the Very Famous Trannie Beer Mile at IMOz in 6 weeks time. It will be the usual mile length run with an official TriAust TO there again, to adjudicate all protests, accusations of cheating, outside assistance (SunnyGirl in particular for turning an individual's attempt into a team event, by drinking half her friend's can), the antics of PIS members, Fashions off the Field, Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii with or without hair and beard, etc etc etc. I have already been in negotiations with Big Chris from the Timing Guys, who did the timing last year and posted all the results on Trannies afterwards and we have decided to have an on-line entry format to avoid disappointment on the day. I will make contact with our 'Secret Sponsor' and see if their company is happy to sponsor this fine sporting event again? Last year we had the use of the finish ramp, but we may not have it this year, but I will endeavour to see what we can have around the finish line, if anything is still standing? Again, I am looking for some assistance for a video and still photographer for the day......Mooze, Matt and family, are you interested in maintaining that role? Also, is Mrs Chat happy to do the judging of the "Fashions off the Field"? (Will Pete from Tassie turn up in his dressing gown again and scoop the line-up?) Is anyone happy to take over my caretaking role as MC, as FatDog (woops, I mean RatDog) has gone even further West than Western Australia and won't be in attendance, even in Oz on the day? I'm happy to continue, but realise that there are more senior members of the Trannie community, who would love this position....just PM me with your credentials, and I will give you my bank acc number. So, at this stage 3:00pm for a 3:30 on Monday 5 May 2014 for IMOz finishes only and start at the usual location, the finish line just outside the pub and right next to the Grafton Kid's famous Chunder Palm. You had better watch out for this Grafton contingent of Tex and the 2 young guns from Grafton, as they will have IMOz Legend status when they turn 27, the way they're going and even get into Hawaii on a Legacy slot in a couple of year's time with the extra races that they're doing. More info on entering to come from Big Chris and updates from me as they come in....Good Luck and welcome back to the fold all those returning IMOz Trannie Beer Mile competitors. IM Cairns Beer Mile only 11 weeks away at same location on the Esplenade near the "No Alcohol Consumption" sign. (It's OK, the consumption takes place on a jetty overhang over the mudflats and the run is on the Esplenade, Your Honour!)
  7. http://www.runnersworld.com/fun/watch-it-looks-like-theres-a-new-beer-mile-world-record Possibly this best thing to come out of tassie since Boonie, Punter and myself (ok maybe not me). Did the beer mile happen at IM Melbourne? I was going to do it until I realised I couldn't walk
  8. https://www.facebook.com/events/1387780034847294/?sid_reminder=636879637804220416 Anyone know who this clown is? Ripping off not one but two ideas to be completely unoriginal...

Fancy dress is mandatory.
  10. I just tried on a part of my costume to discover the tutu component is see through. What do I wear underneath?
  11. ST has some interesting photo's taken at the Boulder Beer Mile in the snow. There is no mention of the requirement to have completed an Ironman the day before. These Americans are soft . http://www.slowtwitch.com/Features/2014_Boulder_Beer_Mile_4116.html
  12. Yesterday, Ratdog, the usual organiser of the very famous IMOz Beer Mile, which was started several years ago by Alex, contacted me to advise that our secret sponsor is ready again to subsidise the Annual Running of the IMOz Beer Mile and would I organise this prestigious event in his absence (Ratdog defected to WA without permission from any Trannies or the Trannie Board and purely for financial and family reasons). So, unless someone else is wanting to direct the Beer Mile then the race will be held at the Finish Line at 3:00pm EST on Monday 6 May 2013. The event is subject to Rattie's most recent rules from IM (Well, not really a full Ironman distance) Melbourne and I include them here with some mods. Beer Mile Details. IMOz Finish Chute Monday 6 May 20133pm START, 'rego' from 2:30pm. Cost is free. You must supply your own beer. Seeing that Beer is traditionally sold in 6 packs, drink the other 2 after the race to wash down the taste of spew in the back of your throat Rules 1. Each competitor drinks four cans or bottles of Beer and runs four laps on a track (Start - beer/lap, beer/lap, beer/lap, beer/lap - finish). 2. Beer must be consumed before the lap is begun, within the transition area which is the 10 meter zone before the start/finish line on a 402m track. 3. The race begins with the drinking of the first Beer in the last meter of the transition zone to ensure the comptitors run a complete Mile (1609 meters). 4. Women drink four beers in four laps (past rule lists only required ladies to drink three beers). 5. Competitors must drink canned Beer and the cans, should not be less than 330ml, NO bottles 6. No specialized cans or bottles may be used that give an advantage by allowing the Beer to pour at a faster rate. ie "super mega mouth cans" or "wide mouth bottles" are prohibited. 7. Beer cans must not be tampered with in any manner, ie. no shotgunning or puncturing of the can except for opening the can by the tab at the top. 8. Beer must be a minimum of 4.5% alcohol by volume. Hard ciders and lemonadeswill not suffice. The Beer must be a fermented alcoholic beverage brewed from malt and flavored with hops. 9. Each Beer can must not be opened until the competitor enters the transition zone on each lap. 10. Competitors who vomit before they finish the race must complete one penalty lap at the end of the race (immediately after the completion of their 4th lap). Note: vomitting more than once during the race still requires only one penalty lap at the end, but will be recorded in IMOz Beer Mile History. 11. You must have completed an official Ironman event in the previous 24 hours. Proof via your competitor wrist band, blisters, Garmin read-out, Finishers Medal or vouching for by loved ones will be required to be shown. 12. You must be a current member of Transitions to qualify for FREE entry and this can be substantiated by the wearing of your official Trannie Hat. 12. Kudos will be given for outfits. 13. The event is open to non Tarnsition members. However, Trannie members do qualify for our perpetuel trophies; which are still missing as of this date, so unless Speedy Steve from Busselton WA can enlighten us on where the Beer Mile belt is, then we will have some new trophies available on the day....thanks to our secret Sponsor, Ratdog and Alex (the originator of the Beer Mile). 14. If other interested parties would like to help officiate and organise the event, please PM me...esp Big Chris. 15. The Patron Saint of the Trannie Beer Mile, Dave Orlowski, the 2nd place getter from the original 1978 IM, will not be available on the day. So, any expressions of interest for other dignitaries to participate on the day would be most welcome. 16. Please advise if you will be available for this most prestigious event. And spread the word far and wide that IMOz Trannie Beer Mile is only 2 weeks away and counting. Please be aware that our youngest Beer Mile competitor, Jason Limbert from Grafton and his Dad, Chris, will be there for their 3rd running of the Beer Mile and Jason will probably staying close to his favourite palm tree for support and all at only just turned 21. Please see attached vids for previous Trannie Beer Mile races....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikemZfzxVzM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ckTI80FjAc

  15. Event: Ironman Australia 2012 Beer Mile Time: 3:30pm for a start at 4pm sharp. Location: Meeting place is the Tall Ship dock and the start line will be somewhere near the finish chute from the day before. Last year we were able to use the ramp and finish line at a natural amphitheatre. There is no guarantee that this can happen this year but we are currently in talks with management. Entry fee: Free Prizes: First Male, First Female, Worst Performance, Fashions on the field. Prize Purse: ??????? Last years race http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ckTI80FjAc Last years Winner was the legendary Steve Anstee of Bussleton Western Australia. Steve's time was 6 minutes 14 seconds on a sanctioned course. PIS member Kane Townes (Cowboy hat) finished in a respectable time of 7 minutes 28 seconds. Steves Stats, He ran the mile in 5 minutes and 7 seconds and drank the 4 beers in 1 minute 7 seconds. Here are a few people times that I recorded Steve Anstee 2012 IMOZ Beer Mile Champion. The race is on at 4pm to allow those going to the Kona roll down time to do their thing then get back for the main event. The Urban Hotel Group Awards Dinner doors open at 5:30pm. Giving us plenty of time to put on some lippy and do hair. Talks are underway for an electronic timing system. Live video feed is also a possibility like we had in Busso last year.
