    My bride has just gone from 165 to 155 on her TT and reports a massive difference. Seems to engage all leg muscle groups now, stops her 'toeing' and keeps her knees straight up and over. Someone also mentioned, but it has opened up her hip angle nicely & gets her into a much more aero position. I am about to go from 172.5 to 170 myself, purely to help the longevity of my knees. Have a look around, but there are articles on lab tests done that show there was no reduction in power output through different crank lengths. For me the longer you can be comfortable on the bike, the better. Just remember to raise the seat by the same reduction in crank length.

    Nice pick up, but lets face it they will probably be quicker over two races than I would be over one.

    So will you do both SD and OD in September, presuming you qualify for both? Sorry but I still struggle to see how people will give it 100% on the Thursday, knowing they are racing an OD 72 hours later.

    Always used single sided stages. The old battery covers use to cause me issues, but just used black electrical tape to keep cover & battery tight to ensure perfect contact. New battery covers have a better turning lock & never had an issue.

    Nah mate, straight from the TA website: Athletes will be able to compete in both the age group sprint distance triathlon and age group standard distance triathlon events at the 2018 International Triathlon Union World Championships.

    Looks like the non official draft legal GC duathlon has cost me a sprint spot, plenty of people in front of me I know can't swim & others qualified that I beat in Canberra when it was the same draft legal format that it will be in Sept - go figure! Will end up 2nd reserve & I notice that there is heaps doing the OD too - will those who qualify in both race both??? Call me jaded, but I can't imagine people are going to blow themselves apart in the Sprint race a couple of days before the OD. In TA's terms, is that picking the people who have the best chance of placing high? Lets hope it 'rolls'!!!!

    Have you tried this workout?

    Hi Folks, Just thought I would share a run interval / speed set I do, along with my guys, generally in their race specific phase, 3-4 weeks out from their 'A' event. The key thing I want to see out of this one is not pure speed, but to see how consistent they can get the time on each interval. Perfect if you can do this on a track, otherwise a nice flat consistent ground is just as good. Total set is 10km, however the reps can be reduced or increased according to 'A' race distance. Warm up - 2km and include drills of choice. If on the track, do the drills down the straights and jog the curves. Main set - 4 x 400m at stand alone 10km pace with 300m easy jog / walk recoveries. 4 x 300m at stand alone 5km pace with 200m easy jog / walk recoveries. 4 x 200m at stand alone 3km pace with easy jog / walk recoveries. Cool down - 2km easy Try to do the efforts without looking at a watch and go purely on feel. This set will also help you get a feel for pacing yourself come race day. Enjoy!! Cheers Matt

    Who doesn't fly out of T2 going too fast. A wise old person told me, if you feel like you are going too fast, you are. If you feel like you are going the right pace, you are still going too fast & if you feel like you are running slow, you are going the right pace!! Good luck in Busso

    Zed, as I mentioned, its not so much about the speed on this set, but being able to get each 400 time as close to each other as possible and for the 300's, 200's etc. Can easily change the goal times up or down to suit, it is just merely a guide to start with.
