  1. Would have loved to have seen good old Angus but I know that The Stig always gets the girls See you all there OO ROO PETE
  2. Well, just an update on Beer Mile. I was hoping to snare a FREE entry to Kona for the winner of the BM, but the 10 lottery slots have already been given out. So, I tried for a FREE entry for IMOz 2018....again no success! However, our very famous and very generous Secret Sponsor is in again. So the SS is supplying the beer (for Trannie Members), the trophies for both the BM and the Half BM, and also more souvenir IMOz 2017 Beer Mile Badges. That's a cash donation of over $600. Thanks again Transitions Beer Mile Secret Sponsor. Anyway, I have been advised that IM will donate some merchandise. So, if you have any special requests send them through.I'm hoping that we might get some collector items like T shirts where "Anthing is Possible"....that is correct spelling! Maybe some finisher towels and merchandise from previous races. I'll let you know. But I do need an idea of how many entrants are coming. So, if you could register your intention to attend this training event, then list yourselves on this post. Whether you're doing the Beer Mile or the Beer Half Mile. Special guests.......TBA! See you at Port and if you've registered come and see me for your souvenir 2017 IMOz Transitions Beer Mile badge. OO ROO Pete
  3. Lotto winnings? You live in Russell Lea....must be worth a fortune. I'm just a poor country cousin. Room is still available. I tried to send you a message from the beach. If you're interested, give me a call on 0418665656. OO ROO Pete
  4. If you haven't found any Accom at Port Mac yet, I have an apartment on the bike and run legs overlooking the river, ocean and beaches. There is a bedroom with 2 single beds with BIR, TV and the use of the rest of the apartment. There is a good sized kitchen, verandah, lounge room, washing machine, dryer and a lock-up garage. Located on Stewart Street corner, just opposite the drinks station and penalty box. It's booked for the week and will cost $350 for the room. I have had this apartment for the last 5 years and I have the double room. PM me if you're interested. Thanks Pete https://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/nsw/north-coast/port-macquarie/115215
  5. Hey Hoover, I just put the post up an hour ago. Thanks for being on the ball. See you there.....CoffsPete
  6. Woops, meant to post that it is time for me to step down as organiser of the Beer Mile and am looking for a replacement for 2018 and beyond. If you're interested then PM me and we can go from there. Just have to finish IMOz within the time, there is a lot of panache being the organiser of Beer Mile and there are lots of helpers. Thanks in advance, CoffsPete
  7. How's the training for IMOz going? Should be tapering about now? However, you should be looking at the main event at IMOz! So, it's time to get ready for the very famous 2017 Transitions Beer Mile to be held at Town Green on 8 May 2016 at 3:30pm in front of the pub at the finish area of IMOz. We are now recognised as part of the Finishers Celebrations and the Beer Mile will occur after the Roll Down Ceremony. I will contact our very special Secret Sponsor and hopefully they will be supporting the Beer Mile yet again....this is the 7th year that we have had this support from this amazing anonymous sponsor...Thankyou again. I believe that we will have some very famous IMOz Legends and Hall of Famers in attendance again....think Karen Pini, Ken Baggs OAM, DCM (DO Come Monday) and some more wonderful personalities, just like the 2015 30th Anniversary IMOz and accompanying Beer Mile. I would love to get some exposure on TV, such as Ch 8 (the Ch 9 equivalent for cities) and I have wriiten to Peter FitzSimmons several times to get a mention in the SMH and The Age (I expect). So, if anyone from Port Macquarie has any contacts with Ch.8 or Ch.6, then can you try to get some coverage for the event. I believe that we should also be part of the IMOz video highlights, that we used see at the Awards Ceremony, so let's try to swing them around for some footage. Anyway, for those that don't understand what the Transitions Beer Mile is about...It is the celebration and relief of having finished IMOz within the cut off time so that you qualify to race the Transitions Beer Mile the next day. It consists of drinking a can of beer, running 400M (440 yards), drinking another beer, running 400M etc etc, until you have run a mile (1760 yards or 1600M) and drunk 4 cans of beer. Your choice of dress is encouraged and we have the usual boys dressed up as girls, boys dressed up as dogs. Go Snoopy from 2015, there are also Fairies, Dinosaurs, German Beeren Hausen, ladies called Carrots, the Safari Suit Twins, the Stig, Angus from AC/DC, blokes wearing attire from their youth and the list goes on and on. However, you should look at some of the accompanying vids from previous Beer Miles. There is also the Transitions Mile Of Famers perpetual trophy and if you believe you should be on it for this year, then PM me and for $5 and a good record of service or participation in previous Beer Miles, I will get you on this year's honour list. Also, I see that there is a Half Ironman on the same day as IMOz, so we are having a Transitions Beer Half Mile for those from the HIM who want to enter. Also, as we recognise the Responsible Drinking of Alcohol we will allow those that want to compete and drink Chardonnays, Milk, Gatorade or even Soft Drink. Unfortunately, there is no award available for these responsible drinkers at this stage. We're hoping that Big Chris will come on board again with the Timing Guys to do the timing again and also set up the on-line registration for this 'training event'. So, look out for his link for registering. Here are some vids of previous Trannie Beer Miles and accompanying links to relevant items. 2015 IMOz Beer Mile Karen Pini... for those of us from Forster IM days, Miss Karen would welcome every finisher across the line and she is, like Ken Baggs an IMOz Hall of Famer. Ask some of your older IM mates for Karen's rise to fame, apart from Paul Hogan's show. Speedy Steve 2010 Beer Mile 2009 Beer Mile 2011 Beer Mile http://forums.transitions.org.au/index.php?showtopic=49434 Transitions Post from Ratdog for 2011 Beer Mile TGL's take on the 2011 Beer Mile If you feel any pressure to participate in the very famous IMOz Trannie Beer Mile, then please visit these links for assistance..... http://www.aa.org.au/ https://www.tomwaterhouse.com/ http://www.standard....arnival/?cs=383 http://www.triradar....t-ruin-my-race/ http://rethinkingdri...fusalskills.asp http://ie.reachout.c...ssure-to-drink/ http://www.google.co...iw=1536&bih=694 http://www.aptriathl...e-of-the-cycos/ http://www.smh.com.a...1210-2z42b.html http://www.smh.com.a...0320-354ih.html http://www.chisel-fi...lonby-cheating/ http://www.dummies.c...heat-sheet.html http://au.linkedin.c...fuga/45/47a/367 http://edition.cnn.c...-ped-explainer/ As we are now part of the Monday Official Celebrations for IMOz, we are being asked to turn around near the Finish Area and we will do 4 laps of such, just like I have been doing for the last 15 years. I knew my finishing performances would be adopted by the hierarchy eventually. Here is a clip of a typical turn around at the Finish Line! The reason for this is so we don't jeopardise the licensing of the area for IMOz. Our finishing area will be close to the finish line, but away from the designated licensed area. and finally http://www.youtube.c...bed/oXvJ8UquYoo As most of you city slickers go to gyms and train to music, here are some clips to help you with your Beer Mile Training.... https://www.youtube.com/embed/CZ85j6U2Fvs And finally if you want to lose some weight, have a look at this bloke's story..... http://www.nasvik.se/fat-to-fit/ I will post again in the next week with more info, but please post your intention to attend this 'training event'. Thanks, CoffsPete
  8. Woops, just realised that I had better start training for the Big Day. So, I'm in for IMOz no 16 and IM no 35. I'm a bit worried with my Taper Hard Train Easy motto, that has given me 34 starts and 34 finishes. Sort of an enviable record that I don't want to tarnish...so help me along if you see me out there. Oh, of course the Very Famous Transitions Beer Mile will be on again and we have even been asked to be part of the celebrations on the Monday afternoon. See the post for the Beer Mile later today. So.... 15-276 is the number. Looking forward to catching up with you all.
  9. WOOZA!!!!!
  10. Never forget a Trannie....esp on the WALK!
  11. Well, Ten Pints, I did say out on the course, that I didn't know whether to turn to God or grog after my performance or lack thereof, and I have decided to turn over a new tree and try some training????? Starting tomorrow morning......Oh I see it's already 11:30 pm, so will start Wednesday morning. Er maybe God might be easier, and you meet more chicks at church.....Praise the Lord, I see the light!
  12. Thanks Roxii and Flanman and everyone else who participated on the day. However, it wouldn't have been so accurate without Big Chris and June, The Timing Guys, who have timed this event for the last 3 years. For them to do our iconic Transitions Beer Mile, when they also do the City to Surf Race and other massive events, we are very lucky to have them. I forgot to thank them on the day, but we are all very grateful to Big Chris and June. Also, Roxii made up last year's excellent vid of the day and I am looking forward to this year's presentation. As well as our sentinel The Stig, who although they couldn't race because of their not competing the day before, still came along and helped set up trophies and stand guard at the Finisher's Arch. Adam was my contact for keeping the finish line and arch up, so if you are up at Cairns in almost 6 weeks time, he will be doing the IM swim set up at Palm Cove, just say Hello, if you see him. Did you notice that the Big Trophies went to Tranny members and the made-up ones went to non Tranny members, so it pays to be a Tranny member. I had arranged for Karen Pini to attend the event, but she was cought out at a meeting, so hopefully, we will have both Karen and Ken Baggs there next year. Ken had both knees replaced and couldn't make it as he was in hospital until Sunday morning. Anyway, next year will be even better and bigger than before! So, onto Cairns and another Tranny IMCairns Beer Mile to organise. I'm hoping to get some support from some official groups up there and will let you know accordingly. I'm hoping that we get a mention on the highlights vid as the Tranny Beer Mile is unique to Australia and is really the responsible consumption of alcohol, where else do you drink a beer and then run flat out for 400M? Will keep you posted. Looking forward to the vid! Thanks Roxii and everyone who participated, assisted, those who started up Tranny Beer Mile, kept it running and our Very Secret and Very Generous Sponsor.
  13. Thanks Roxii and Flanman and everyone else who participated on the day. And thanks to all who thanked me. I just finished within time again, just so I was fully qualified to run the Beer Mile......Thankyou all!
  14. Finished just in time with 15 mins to spare. My time reflects my dedication to training and commitment to Beer Mile. Gotta finish IM in order to MC this great event. I was happy with my swim, as I swam a bit but couldn't make any further than 350M. Went to the Doctor suggesting I might have Asbestosis, he prescribed Stroke Correction squads instead. Bike ride was ok for first lap, but as I had only done about 500 kms total training with biggest ride of 101 kms 2 weeks ago, then I suffered on second lap. Fortunately, had 2 legs with favourable wind and last leg had wind into face......but that's IM. Put new Vittoria Rubine tyres on and ran them for at least 190 kms before race, but found rear slipped whenever I got off the seat. Had already decided to walk MFD, but had to remain seated on all hills. Now the run was an act of God. First time ever that I had some sort of injury, either a Hamstring or Sciatica or Heartlage, but knew I would have to jog, shuffle a fair way to get in by cut off. So, after first 3 kms of walking started to shuffle along and even impressed myself with the end result. Thanks to all Trannies out there who supported and cheered me along, esp Ten Pints who was everywhere, iFoz who always puts Trannie motifs along the course, IronmanFoz who painted the Trannie Rock and Roxii who is behind us all. Didn't see too many Trannie bibs that were sponsored by Roxii at iFoz's suggestion last year.....I wear mine with pride every IM or race where other Trannies are. . The reasons to finish in time...... MC Beer Mile at 3:30pm today on Town Green, Receive my 15 year IMOz Race Trophy and I think I get a FREE entry into IMOz next year. By the by, I am secretly impressed with my performance and really wonder how I would go if I stuck to a training program. Thanks to Trannies I will look forward to Beer Mile where the most responsible consumption of alcohol occurs.......Drink then run flat out! Tried to get sponsorship from Beaches Hotel, but because we skull the beers, they could be up for Irresponsible Serbice of Alcohol......didn't go with my responsible consumption idea. See you in Cairns in 6 weeks OO ROO Coffs Pete
  15. Mmmmmm, don't seem to be many entries as yet. So, the mugs and trophies could go to anyone? Oh, those fantastic mugs and trophies you see there are courtesy of a very famous anonymous sponsor, who has been sponsoring Beer Miles for over 7 years that I am aware of!!! Thanks Secret Sponsor, we really appreciate your very generous contribution in trophies and financial assistance. Could I hazard a guess that you have secretly contributed over $2,000 in cash and an excellent assortment of trophies. Want to know who the Secret Sponsor is????? You will have to take over the running of the Beer Mile and sign a secrecy agreement! See you at Port from later today and get those entries in. I believe the Grafton Kid is in full flight to defend his performance from last year. Watch out you PIS members, I think you might be too long in the tooth for 2016!
